The average admission fee was 1,307 yen (about US$11) down slightly from 1,303 yen last year.

Am I misunderstanding this or shouldn't it be "up slightly" from last year's?
Nice stats. A shame for Kizumonogatari, really.

Only 4 non-Japanese animated movies? That seems really low.
And the top 42 earned 116.7 billion while the bottom 568 earned 31.98 billion, which is about 56 million per movie, which isn't too bad. 610 movies does seem a lot for Japan but I have no idea honestly.

Well the Monogatari series has always appealed more to the market that buys blu-rays rather than movie tickets, so I think it makes sense. Plus, seeing a film cut into thirds in piecemeal over the course of the year probably doesn't make for the most fulfilling theater-going experience, I'd assume.

That's what I thought. I had no idea their output was so high. I figured it would honestly be like 1/5 of that. But I clearly have no idea about this stuff. In Japan or Hollywood. For comparison sake though, anyone know what the yearly gross in Hollywood was, by any chance? I imagine it's rather insane.

So, does that mean that Your Name constitutes about 1/6 of the total domestic film earnings?
