probably people like the dude who was at one of the panels at JAFAX the year Tiffany Grant was a guest who told her to her face that dubs ruin anime by "fundamentally altering" (not prarphasing, he actually used "fundamentally alter/ed/ing" so many times I lost count) it into something other than its "pure and proper" (paraphrased) form.

Not too surprising. If memory serves, at least episodes 2-6 in the original release had English subtitles on the Japanese disks. Not positive about the first episode.

And I normally watch FLCL subbed, for what it is worth.

You have it exactly right. I bought all 6 of the original R2 DVDs, and 2-6 had English subtitles but the first episode did not.

The majority of ANN users, according to the Encyclopedia's own stats?

..... anyway...

Wasn't it released on Japanese BD before? Isn't that where Funi got their awful Qtec upscale from? I don't exactly get how this is newsworthy here, as it's already available on Blu everywhere, unless a new remaster or upscale comes about.

Both the sub and dub for this show were excellent. Surprisingly, the dub was rather accurate to the Japanese version.

Yes, back in 2010 and in addition to the upscale being awful, so was the packaging.

Very nice to see English subs on this set, now some packshots would be great Smile.

Me, and the overwhelming majority of the people I know who watch anime. Not to mention fans who actually import anime from Japan which is almost exclusively made up of people who predominantly watch anime subbed.

The majority of the fans. Is good this show had a dub for the dub fans but the majority prefer subs.

I hope this is not a awful upscale like before.

It honestly didn't even cross my mind that this could actually be a remastered upscale... I still doubt it will be, but if it is, I might actually buy it again...

WTK inferred on AoD that it was just a re-release of the content from the original LE BD release. I don't really pay attention to JP releases, is there much precedent for companies commissioning a second upscale if they're unsatisfied with the first? I mean, a lot of releases over there keep going with Qtec in the first place, so how much can they actually care...

I doubt I'll be replacing my Synch-Point Ultimate Edition DVDs anytime soon. =/

Eh, I'll stick with what I already have. When it comes to anime, I usually prefer to watch it dubbed. It's not that I have a problem with sub, I watch a ton of foreign films strictly subbed, and if an anime really catch my interest and doesn't have a dub, I'm fine with watching that, but I usually tend to lean towards dub if there is an option. For anime at least.

I get tired of the snobs who always act like sub is superior and practically condemn all dubs and the people who watch them. That's ridiculous. There's a lot of very talented voice actors from all over. Hell, I don't know if it's just me, but it feels like Japan has like 5 voice actors for every anime because so many voices for different characters sound so similar lol.

And there's some anime I just have to watch dub. For example DBZ, I can't stand Goku's voice in Japanese. Also Future Diary is another one. Yuno's high pitch and very grating voice shouting "Yuuuuuuukkkkkkiiiiii" over and over again can make ears bleed.

Meh, big deal. I'm sure the subs will have spelling and grammatical issues since Japanese people can't get English right to save their lives. Besides, this show is terrible in its native language; it's not the least bit entertaining that way. English dub knocked it out of the park.

I get what you're saying, but in this very thread it was an anti-sub comment that started this whole thing. In my experience it it almost always starts out that way.

As far as I know, it's happened a couple of times, but I don't think it's super common. I know the re-release of Haruhi was touched up. That's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

But yet you can stand Buu's voice in the dub?

It's funny because Americans can't get it right themselves at least the Japanese have the excuse of english not being their primary language we on the other hand don't Razz
