No Zeon . . .
No Federation . . .
Gundams part of everyday life . . .
Intriguing.
We'll see if this is a hit.

*prays that this isn't a new Universe and is instead a Gundam X sequel of sorts*
Oh, and, um...a source of evidence would be nice.

Mobile Police Patlabor even more so, I'd say.

Actually, it sounds more like Xenogears. Mechs in that universe were not just weapons, but some functioned as construction vehicals, and any other heavy lift/ dangerous operation equipment available to civilians. Save the privatly built Gundams from Gundam Wing, the mechs usually belong to some sort of military or militant faction.
But of course, what kind of Gundam would it be without some rainbow mech assulting something...
And neither Turn A nor SEED have Federation or Zeon (they do have equivilent parts though).

Part of everyday life? Sounds like a more realistic version of SD Gundam Force to me. I bet it plays like Xenosaga/gears just with less human fighting.

Sounds kind of interesting. I'll miss Zeon, of course, but... could be pretty cool.
I'm just hoping it's not TOO much like Xenogears.

Patlabor does have Jegans, after all.
Or...should that be "Gundam does have Ingrams?"
Seriously though, if this was in any way reminiscent of Patlabor, only with Gundams & other classic mobile suits and a distinctly "Gundam" setting, I'd be all over it.

No Federation.....no Zeon?
Well in that case, it's NOT Gundam.
It's either UC, or it's just some crap they stuck Gundams into in order to get anyone to watch it. (I'll admit, I plain out Hate the AC universe series, since it's all mundane compared to UC)
However, if they make the Setting more like our world, only with Mobile Suits, that would actually be rather interesting. I've always wanted to know what our world would be like with Mobile Suits.
....But I just don't get this:
Quote: | The game's producer and designer stated that they decided to create an original setting for the game because they suspect that fans are getting bored with the existing storylines.
|
No, were getting Bored with all the new stuff becuase it's NOT UC, and becuase there's NO Feddies, and NO Zeon. There hasn't been a real UC show since 08'th MS team, and that, btw, was awesome and well accepted by the fans.
What were tired of is all the "Alternate" universes. Us fanatical Gundam fans are getting fed up with all these "reinventions" of one of our favorite shows, and have given up hope on anything without the UC timeline being involved.

I'm not so sure you speak for all U.C. Gundam fans, here. We've seen U.C. related side stories, remakes, retellings, and rehashes for years and years now and many of us are tired of that. I'd rather see something new (and done well, which I can't say for things like Seed) than more of the same. This game should be neat, as it looks to provide an interesting new way of looking at robots we already know and love.

I'd like to make it clear to the audience that Cyan Bloodbane doesn't speak for all Gundam Fans in this Topic.

So do I. Now address the 3 other TV Series/Universes you failed to mention.

The Earth Federation is quite prominent in X...

You've never even heard of ∀ before, have you?

I've said it here before, and I will say it again, Turn A is an amazing series.
Anyway, I agree that this may not be the opinion of all Gundam fans. As someone else mentioned, it would be very interesting if it were something like our world, only with Mobile Suit technology.

The two things that all Gundam series (or at least the serious ones) seem to have:
1) War, or a reasonable facsimile (eg "Gundam Fight")
2) Some tension or hostility between people on Earth and in Space.
2a) The people in space starting the series as the antagonists.
If they don't have any of these, then it'll really a new Gundam Universe. The only fear I have is that it will turn into a giant robot sentai show or Cubix (which, come to think about it, was SDGF). Of course, I think of the worst case scenario a lot.
Is it just me or can UC Gundam fans get as obstinate as anti-dubbers?
And thus endeth post #500.

I'll be the first to admit that we can be.
With that in mind, you have to understand, all us who grew up watching UC (well, us extreme fans, anyhoo) feel like the glorious name of Gundam is being misused for thing they weren't intended for. It would be like someone took the Eva's, and put them into a shoujo Yaoi title that tried it's hardest to have a political undercurrent, failed, and then gave up and went with pretty battles with no depth instead.
That's what it's like to see Gundams used for anything other than the UC storyline. That's just this old fogey of a fan's opinion though....
