Nice, i'll gladly buy this but this means that i'll have to buy Casshern Sins for the third time in preparation for it because it was so great.
As for the live-action, no thanks! That movie sucked and so did Dreamworks' subs. |

Have owned this for years. It wasn't anywhere near as good as i had been told. Although the fact i watched the poor English Dub probably had something to do with my slight sourness towards it.
We in the UK got both Dub Versions in one set rather than having to cough up the dosh for both seperatly like the US. If Discotek want to rescue stuff liek this then their is a whole bunch of unreleased Central Park Media licenses i wouldn't mind seeing as well as rescuing some of their titles too. Would be nice to get another release of 'Night on the Galactic Railroad'. Seems right in line with their other license rescues so far. |

The Galaxy Express movies, Project A-ko, Demon City Shinjuku, and now Casshan. It feels like Sci Fi's Saturday Anime is back! Discotek is awesome.

Looks like they have Samurai Pizza Cats too. All of my money, Discotek. All of it. |

NJ: Live-action Casshern was good, just underrated. But I am hoping the OVA rescue brings us one step closer to the 70s show getting a U.S. release.

They need to pick up the rest of Kawajiri's stuff, and definitely Robot Carnival. Thinking about what's available in the OVA realm, there's hundreds of one-shot sci-fi titles they could pick up and I'm sure have little minimum guarantee from their age and non-popularity. Sort of goes with my idea of having a boxset of cheap titles like Horror and Sci-Fi b-movies often get.
As for Casshern OVA, it's almost a prequel to Casshern SINS in the way that the events lead up and play out. I haven't seen the 73 TV series and I really have no intention, I doubt it does anything different from the other shows of the time. You might have to do that kickstarter thing mentioned in the latest ANNcast for that, just for subs. I doubt any really old anime that appears there will be able to get a DVD release, especially with so many episodes. I'd love to do one for Windaria and Genmu Senki Leda, but even that would be improbable. |

Well thank god there's that audience for it (really just me). Certainly getting Robot Carnival would be nice. |

It gives you the entire story, so that's a motivator for me. |

Agree 100%. I would buy Robot Carnival in a heartbeat if someone rereleased it. |

Wow, never seen this version but I may have to pick it up now. It's early Yasuomi Umetsu. I wonder what he's doing now.

One of my top 10 anime films that needs a new distributor in America. Cause I hardly know many people in person who've seen it. Back to subject, I like that Discotek is licensing this title, I remenber getting the ADV films DVD release and it was ultra rare to find one un-open. I'll consider buying it just cause I like Discotek. Course that's the only Casshern title I've seen seen entirely. I know there's two other Casshern titles in America, but I haven't found the time to watch them in entirely. Since the live action movie is now mark done to 5 bucks on Amazon I'll buy that one, cause I ain't got the money for the Sins series Blu-ray as of yet. |
