Dunno what TV Tokyo is talking about. China says those are not copies of Naruto et. al. - those are completely original and not yet finished with final modifications, and they never existed in the first place.

Good luck, TV Tokyo. You'll have about as much success as every other US distributor has had shutting down overseas streaming and scanlation sites.

The problem is that China copies everything, even reverse engineer jets, and no protection for ideas, lol. That's why software shops and their entertainment industry are almost non-existent there. |

Hmm.. now that you mention it, I have never seen Naruto, Bleach or Gintama on that chinese site. I have however seen three different anime with similar plot..... "The tail of a fox", "Super demon executioner" and "Funny people doing stuff". All are of course chinese originals. |

Might want to tell TV Tokyo tried to stir up/anger China. After seeing those nasty confrontation in the sea, and also making an orange gundam and denying they copied off the original Gundam. I don't China is going to care if anime video are on Youku illegally.

Sounds like the Chinese PR rep for the park includes someone who interned for a US politician: "I did not say that, also I was misquoted, and furthermore my words were taken out of context." |

No, I've definitely seen full episodes of Naruto on Youku before. Not surprising, since there's no time limit to videos. Unless they're (The Chinese) responsible for producing the show's massive "Filler Hell", and they're considering that "original content", I'm quite certain that TV Tokyo has the right to take action.
Viacom attempted something similar with YouTube, and, in the end, it was the users who were hurt, instead of YouTube's pockets (invasion of privacy). Though, these are Pacific rim nations... The circumstances are a, um, bit different. |

not related but interesting for people to see:
on Kotaku, it looks like China has illegally stole Gundam SEED mech and using children to pilot them in the style of Evangelion for this weird animated show. |

Having the right to take action and the ability to take action are two different things. TV Tokyo could get every court in the world to side with them and say China must take those videos down, but China will just thumb their nose at everyone and refuse. What's TV Tokyo gonna do? There's no way they can make China pay if China doesn't want to. |

I'm very disappointed TV Tokyo seems to take one step forward and replaces the progress with two steps back.
I sure would like to know why those in the industry are having such a difficult time adapting to the internet market. In what world does TV Tokyo believe it will have control over its works hosted on a server outside of Japan? It's a shame, too, because if any company out there would have solid proof it's not bad, it would be this one considering how successful Crunchyroll has been for them. Basic Internet Rule 101: To compete with piracy, give people what the pirates do. It's 2012 and so far, not a single legitimate streaming site can even touch what piracy sites can do. That's very disappointing. |

I thought that TV Tokyo had partnered with a Chinese video streaming site to offer their content.
Because companies have to abide by rules and regulations while pirates can just take whatever they want and put it wherever they want. In piracy land everything is free and there's no need to monetize thing. In company land/reality things cost money to make and need to be monetized. Even when companies give away a product for free, some people still skirt around any revenue generation by blocking video ads or ripping streams. Free is too much of a price to pay for many and that will always be at odds with organizations who have to make money or go out of business. |

TV Tokyo is one of the companies who makes the rules. When you take a breath from your piracy rant, how about you return back to the point. It'll make things easier for both of us. |

You asked why don't they "get it" and the reason is because unlike pirates they have to make money and giving away everything to everyone with no monetary stream is kinda the opposite of making money. |

It's not a show, but a tailor-made service. Parents can have pictures of their children built into 3D models, dubbed with their voices, making their children the hero/heroine of the show. Parents and their children would only pick famous titles that already have solid fandom. Therefore, to operate such service legally would require tremendous licensing fee, which is unlikely achievable with their price tag. |

Seriously? That's a really interesting idea for a service. If I was a kid, watching a cartoon version of myself pilot a giant mecha and be a hero would be kind of awesome... and maybe a little creepy too. |
