I was wondering if "Vampire Knight" is still ongoing, i think it's a masterpice of a manga, and i don't want it to end at chapter 78.

As the mainstay of LaLa magazine, if Hino-sensei concludes the story of Vampire Knight it would be a front page news. Furthermore, if you have read chapter 78 (released Dec. 24, 2011 in Japan), either from the LaLa magazine or via scanlations, you should have noticed the "to be continued; on cover of March issue of LaLa (available Jan. 24)" announcement at the bottom of the 40th page.
