I guess Eisner wasn't satisfied with just booting Pixar. Maybe his new philosophy of 2-d not selling means he's going to cut ties with Miyazaki.

This is quite disappointing to see these delayed... from both the fans and the company. I don't see Disney making anything fabulous these days and I've been waiting for Nausicaa for a long long time to come out and I'm sure other people have as well (as well as the other titles). |

More than likely they delayed them because they're fast-tracking Howl's to get it out before the cutoff for Oscars and they want a tie-in

This is bad news. I was looking forward to buying those DVDs. However, I don't think that blaming Eisner is right. Let's just hope that this is just a minor delay.

Whedon: People were also saying Ed Wood was delayed to tie in with Pirates of the Caribbean being nominated for an Oscar.

I believe the stockholders voted against having him as the chairman, but I think he's still CEO. It's not just him that's the problem but all his lackies on the board that support him... such an evil man... |

Eisner isn't evil, he's just entrenched and probably institutionalized. He can't seem to make good decisions anymore and his ego has gotten to the point where he can't see past his own haze. Any CEO who can't keep cash cow companies like Pixar on board or companies that carry such a colossal reputation like Miramax (down, GATSU, down boy!) should probably be let go. Unfortunately the board at Disney seems to be comprised of his best friends (or robots programmed to do his bidding) so he'll probably be there until he's too old to function.
The fact is, though, that this probably has nothing to do with him. All sorts of factors play in to the release date of a DVD, very few of them have anything to do with the top man at a colossal international media giant like Disney. Usually it's a production schedule thing. Blaming Eisner or crying anti-anime conspiracy is complete tinfoil hat fantasy stuff, folks. |

I'm hoping it's just a delay in the production of the dvds either with the authoring/replicating or perhaps a scheduling conflict with another [companies] dvd release that simply has priority. Whatever the case, the delay doesn't bother me as much as the lack of a new release date. I've been chomping at the bit for quite some time to see Nausicca.

I can wait. It's not like people haven't already been waiting for a really long time. What's a few months?
And does anyone know about John Lasater and Miyazaki/Disney relationship? Is he still helping out? |

All the dubbing and editing work has been done. It wouldn't make sense at this point to be dropping these projects. It's probably a production glitch. Anyway, a later release will have them out in time for the Christmas season. (^_*)

W-hat? I am honestly confused here.
Disney's been hyping these for months - the Porco Rosso premier in NYC, et al - so there's something really wierd going on here. Nothing sinister, I hope. |
