I submitted both Heavy Metal movies for add an amine, even though it isn't real anime. Like aeon flux both movie are made in america by americans, but it is anime inspired and has a look and feel as though it was. Since aeon flux is in the non-anime part of the encyclopedia might as well put those two movies in they too.

Err, no. Aeon Flux is in there because Peter Chung is seen as an anime artist by many (because of the Animatrix and Reign). But Heavy Metal has nothing in common with anime.

When I first saw Heavy Metal 2000, I assumed they had some animators from Asia work on it, maybe even from Japan. I never bothered to look it up, but it's easy to see why someone would at least mistake the 2nd movie for an anime. It also could be said that it's one of those series that people assume are anime because it's animation not for kids.

Heavy Metal deserves to be in the not anime but related section as much as Peter Chung. He's not Japanese, just an animator known for animation with an adult audience in mind.

I know this is an old topic, but it does not deserve to be in the 'Not Anime But Related'. Heavy Metal was made for fans of the comic magazine of the same name, which was mostly translated French comics. Nothing to do with anime at all.
