I know this is somewhat off-topic, but I posted it anyway since my question pertains to Oshii-san and the two films related to Jin-Roh (that would be Stray Dogs and The Red Spectacles).

Out of the 3 films in his trilogy collection (The Red Spectacles, Stray Dogs, Talking Head), which one should I see first, second, and third? I've heard that the three films are loosely related to each other, but I was just wondering if there is a preferred order of watching them (whether it be in a chronological, thematic, etc. sense). Heck you could throw in Avalon there too, since I'm not sure how that fits in with the three.

I have watched Talking Head, Avalon and half of the Red Spectacles. I would say that so far Avalon is the best overall. Talking Head is filmed like a play. Everything takes place on a stage, with theatrical performances. I thought it was a very interesting look at the anime production process. It is also a one of the wierdest films I have seen. The Red Spectacles (so far) is very slow. While there is a plot, it has been very slow.

One word I think can describe the "Trilogy": Screwy.

Stray Dogs is the least screwy of the three, but it still has its parts.

I liked all three of them...though they where not at all what I was expecting.

Thanks, folks. Based on your suggestions, I think I'll watch Avalon and Stray Dogs first. I heard that these are some of the most tripped-out films ever made, and that's just the way I like it! You could probably make a drinking game out of them too!

And Talking Head really peaked my interest. I'm looking forward to Oshii-san's (warped) take on the "behind-the-scenes" aspect of anime.....
