Interestingly enough, I have an urge to check out this title because I'm curious how some of the newcomers handled this especially since most of them participated in that AX Idol competition and did fandubs.

I also saw the trailer for this series at AX courtesy of the Bandai booth. REALLY makes me want to check it out. Although I have to say even with all that it may seem in the series, it could have some potential for me Wink

The first OVA was alright. The girls as well as the class president get really out of hand in 2 and 3.OVA 2 was the best IMO once they got to the beach.I'm glad it was released so quickly.I find "pa-ni-me",hilarious.

I wonder if it comes with anything.Pantu perhaps? Laughing When Najica came out,a pair of panties were included (I don't remember the volume). They were sealed of course.I let my buddy borrow the box set and when I got it back the DVD's didn't fit in the collectors sleeve. The packaged panties had been opened Shocked I won't go near that box set anymore. Mad

I'm amazed that the creators felt the Aika storyline was complex enough to warrant a prequel. Did someone watch the first series and go "yes, those were very interesting panties, but what about those panties MYSTERIOUS PASTS?"

As a Brit I'd just like to say that I find the concept of "wiggling fannies" both disturbing and intiguing. Perhaps more so than the show in which review they appear.

Perhaps they were more interested in the fact the mysterious past panties would be worn by schoolgirls?

For the sake of propriety, I think I should point out that "fanny" in America just means "ass", as opposed to its somewhat stronger UK meaning (think front rather than rear).

I'm well aware of that, but it's still used irregularly enough (for both meanings) that it tends to jump out whenever it does get used.

Well, judging from the review, this seems like a perfect fit for Indonesian TV! Laughing

Yup, this is just one example of why I say the market is somewhat... oversaturated, to be diplomatic. It sounds like a treasure-hunting version of Dead or Alive volleyball.

What the hell....

WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO MY AIKA!!!

Did moe mode really have to mess up my adult size Aika too?!

Still might have to check it out just to see if it matches up to the original.

That's one of my favorite new shows. My only complaint would be that a lot of the pantyshot poses/set-ups seem to have been recycled from the first AIKA and NAJICA BLITZ TACTICS, but then again they were excellent pantyshots so why not revisit them. It was nice to see the very strange, but suprisingly great KIRAMEKI PROJECT mentioned too.

Lets face it, very few people are watching shows like Akia or Najica for the thought provoking plots and deep, rich, character development. It is simply entertainment which can be enjoyed with minimal engagement of ones brain.

Unless you feel obligated to add a panty shot counter to the episode. >_>;

As a side note, I did think that Najica was well done. I've only seen the first couple eps of AIKa but am looking forward to seeing this too.

Which is largely true of about 90% of all anime. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. The 90's style action-heavy/fan-service material always seems to be at the bottom of the ladder for fans today, but the majority of all anime is in practice some flavor of 'sweet-tooth' entertainment.

As for the chatter on 'Najica', it sometimes felt to be 'going through the motions' more than the original Aika, as well as suffering from the old anime habit of sticking on a lame, tone-shifting 'serious' ending. However, compared to competing genre shows like '009', which is a plate of chicken-fried stupid with all the trimmings, or uninspired, derivative efforts like 'Daphne in the Brilliant Blue', 'Najica' does pretty well.

Thanks to your cyncism ANN, I'm now looking forward to purchasing this title. I've seen the '96 version of this and found it to hold it's own without being absurd. AS for this 2007 re-make I'm watching fansubs so I can purchase it in the fall.
