Uhhh no, I don't see any chance of fansubs of being uploaded or even any ability for users to upload videos. This is really great news and I really would like to see what shows they acquire for the service.

Any chance you could drop a word to Sony about updating the flash on the PS3 browser? It's currently icompatible.

"An estimated 69% of Americans between the ages of 16 and 29 watch anime regularly, according to a 2007 poll."

I refuse to believe that number.

Yeah, that kinda struck me as a really high percentage as well. I don't know 7/10 of my friends (in that age range) that even watch anime at all, not just "regularly." Not even close.

Regardless, I'm very interested in seeing how this video player works out.

So.. if 69% of ages 16-29 people in america, which would be approximately 40 million people, are watching anime regularly...
And the average anime DVD sells maybe 10,000 copies (at the most), that means...

99.975% percent of anime in america is watched illegally?

Okay, if we add in the 2 million or so viewers of naruto on TV, then it's only 96% Smile

The player platform is up now. (See the new VIDEO tab on the top of each page?) We'll start adding some anime series once we get some kinks worked out, so a few weeks hopefully.

All content will be 100% licensed. No user uploads at all.

This is a pretty obvious question, I suppose, but there's no chance that any content you'll have will be available in Japan ever, is there?

Unlikely, as I know of not a single licensor that would give those rights to us.

Well it works for me here in Blighty. So when's the first episode of something going to be available, and do you think that maybe a Gonzo/stickybuns type deal is in the cards then? Wink

I found two trailers that wouldn't download for me. One was Macross Plus, the other was Megazone23 II.
