I have been waiting several years to watch Dragon Ball, this is FANTASTIC news.
But then the news becomes even better, the new Eva 1.0 in Blue ray. That is exceptionally awesome, I look forward to buying the Blue Ray version next year.
I am also interested in Sands of Destrution as well though.

Did they mention how they managed to reunite the original Slayers cast?

I have to say I'm more than a little shocked that they got the original 4 English voice actors for the Slayers TV series.

I wonder if the Dragon Ball first arc boxset will be in the same faux-remastered, screen-cropped format as their "remastered" sets for Dragon Ball Z. I seem to remember DVD boxsets for the later storylines, but they're not even available anymore, unless you really look.
I'm really more interested in the new Dragon Ball game for the Wii. Surely a later release here would mean Funimation's involvement.

My first thought was, "OMG YAY"
My second thought was, "I bet my original release Tournament saga DVDs are gonna plummet in worth." Maybe I should sell them on Ebay now...

What I want to know is, why did they lie to us at Anime Next about the Wal-Mart listing being false? That being said:
Quote: | Sheehan also assured fans that Funimation still had the license for One Piece, and that issues regarding new episodes were being sorted out. |
I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the former part, but regarding the latter part, how do we know THAT isn't a lie? They didn't have to say that the Wal-Mart listing was legit, but they didn't have to flat-out lie and say it wasn't either.
Secondly, what about the specs? Can we expect the original full frame video (i.e., without the faux-widescreen treatment)? Also, what kind of deal--if any--has been worked out with Lion's Gate?
Then there's the Sgt. Frog thing. They're not going to go the "Saint Seiya/Knights of the Zodiac" route, are they (i.e, with two separate English dubs)?
Whatever the case may be (and I can't speak for anyone else), while I will buy the Dragon Ball boxset, they are otherwise now going to have to earn my trust. It's their responsibility to ensure that their representatives are up to date with the most recent info about the company's releases and activities. Again, they don't have to confirm anything, but they can't lie and say something is false when in fact it isn't. It's poor business sense, plus your customers will be mad and distrustful of you. Once again, I will buy the DB boxset, but they are going to have to earn my trust.
BTW, happy 4th of July.

I'll take 4 out of 5 of the original cast of Slayers any day. I'm a tad disappointment that they didn't get David Moo, but I think I'll live

They must be flying them all in first class from New York and LA, having them stay in a 5 star hotel, and pay for back massages everyday before and after recording sessions. That's my guess.
I'm totally fanboy flipping out right now. I LOVE SLAYERS. I think I'll have to watch it again to calm myself down. Oh geez.

I know you're being facetious, but that's definitely the fancy treatment they deserve. I love those guys! I do wonder why they couldn't get David, though... I guess he doesn't do much voice acting anymore? I never heard him in anything besides Slayers, now that I think about it.

Plummet in worth? You don't buy anime DVDs to watch them?

Probably a similar way as to how they managed to reunite most of the Tenchi Muyo cast. Since everyone's still in the business, it only takes maybe a few flights, some phone calls and maybe the use of someone else's facilities to get it done.
Hey, it's work. I wouldn't say no to work.

I'm rather surprised that they had to confirm that they still had the license to One Piece. Surely people didn't think that they'd lose the license over a leaked episode that didn't even affect the TV ratings for that episode at all....
At worst, we'd lose the simulcast, but it looks like we might get that back with time.
Well, I got what I wanted from FUNi when they confirmed Eva on Blu-ray, so this was a good showing for me.

I'm not really sure what to expect from the remastering, but I am sure that FUNi won't try that widescreen crap again. They didn't do it for the GT remastered sets.
