Noticed this from an AoD Post.
MangaCast's Cancelled Manga List.
Dammit. So much for my hopes of more Yotsuba&! in the near-fture... |

Crap. This isn't very surprising, but it is upsetting that ADV's manga are being dropped.
Yotsuba&! is one of my favorite manga. And I was looking forward to starting Gunslinger Girl too. Do other publishers have to wait for ADVs licensing rights to expire before they can pick them up? -Murph |

Well, sh*t. I'll join the Yotsuba&! club. And I just started to catch up... At least line was only one volume.
I'd like to see them back, but if not I'm hoping someone is able to pick up their unfinished (and probably soon to be OOP) titles. |

I really hope someone picks up Yotsuba&!. That is one of the best titles currently being released. Was volume 6 ever released? Hopefully Gunslinger Girl has a shot at being picked up too.

No. Vol. 6 was never released. As popular as they seems to be, I think it would have a fair chance of getting picked up by someone else. Another thread metioned they were ADV's top sellers, citing an ADV poll. Here's the post I just wonder how long the wait will be this time. -Murph |

I guess they can only do so much, but they've been hurting so much these days. With all of these different parts of the company going down, can they still hold on above water?

Their dvds were shut down for months, too. Give them some time.

Agreed...but I'd much rather ADV continued with it, even if it takes therm a few months to sort themselves out. Aside from the annoyance of the cover design changing half way through the series to incorporate a big, ugly Tokyopop logo or whatever, if someone else picks it up they'll start re-releasing it from volume 1. So even if they picked it up right now and released a volume every two months, it would still be a year before we'd see volume 6. |

Argh... don't remind me of the Aria atrocity. Anyway, you're right. It would be nice if they were able to sort things out and continue at vol. 6 because we'd have to wait either way. Though if it comes down to it, I'd like to see Del Rey take the license, not Kyotoblip. |

Another disappointed Yotsuba&! fan here. Hopefully ADV will get it together, and fairly soon.

Well that's just depressing. Yotsuba& was one of my favorite manga, too. I was so looking forward to v. 6 especially after that fabulous v. 5. I was hoping to see more of Yotsuba's new rival.

Not again.
Well, hopefully this is just a temporary situation until they get back on their feet. That Sojitz (am I spelling that right?) group pulling their financing really screwed them up. If Robert of the Anime Corner Store is correct, they're really hurting right now but holding on. (Hence all the re-released box sets.) If they can't come back, I hope Gunslinger Girl will get a new licensor. That manga is just fantastic. |

Excuse me? What are you talking about? I have some TokyoPop titles, and I browse them at the bookstores all the time- their SOP with covers is a kind of a... strip-thingy down spine side and a logo on the spine itself. But yes, no Yotsuba makes big cousin Osaka cry. And BellosTheMighty, but he's a wuss anyway. |

Down boy! I'm making the not very controversial point that if Yotsuba&! were taken over by Tokyopop (or Del Ray), the spine logos would not fit in very well with the design of the ADV releases. This would make my shelves look marginally less pretty. It's probably not a vitally important consideration as far as said publishers are concerned, I grant you. |

That's a relief. I thought that I'd missed it. |
