What are "votes"? Do I have to go to My Anime and vote for an anime or something? I looked but maybe I'm just missing something.
Really cool feature. ![]() |

Go to "My Anime" and set up a list of all the anime you've seen at least some of and rate them thus making them your "votes."
And it only gets better when more people make their list so get crackin' everybody. Chop chop! Now if only it will make custom tailored recommendation lists. ![]() |

Now, that's not exactly true. One problem with top 10 lists is that some people want to change the order of the list instead of giving their true opinion, so they give either the best or worst rating in the hope of making such-or-such title climb up or down in the list. Hopefully that won't happen here but... |

nah, that was just an oversight (aka bug) on my part. btw, the manga stats aren't nearly as meaningful as the anime stats; not enough people have rated manga titles.

Is there/will there be an option to search for a show in particular? Maybe even linkable in the encyclopedia. Sort of a "see this shows ratings according to our members" link.
Or maybe just add the number to the encyclopedia. Something like "Rating: 6.75/10 by 19 members". That way when browsing one can tell how good or bad the anime might be. I don't know, it might be too hard. I was just looking for something in particular (I kinda found it in Most Underrated) and since it wasn't showing up I was wondering how many people had actually seen it. |

I recently added that to the encyclopedia. Now, if you go to an anime/manga that has a bayesian rating (at least 5/4 ratings), you'll see the votes for that title. Maybe the title you were looking at just didn't have enough ratings.

Since we're on the topic of the ratings page I'd liek to ask a couple questions. First, are unlicensed anime just not displayed for the top 10 and 50 lists? Everything I see there seem to be licensed despite the fact that a lot of the anime I've watched isn't. I can understand wanting to keep the listings for licensed anime seperate from what people may have seen in a fansub to prevent inacurate ratings (which I assume is at least one of the primary reasons for this if there are many) so I was wondering if perhaps we can get sepperate ratings for unlicensed anime as well in a seperate section? I must say for myself I judge almost entirely on story and animation quality so good or bad dubs or translations mean little to me if the show itself is good so I wouldnt mind if licensed and unlicensed are together, but I'm sure someone would mind so I can respect that. Also, I noticed Stink Bomb and Magnetic Rose on the lists... this is somehting that has bothered me about the encyclopedia for a logn time but I let it go because some people may have been able to find it that way if they didn't know the movie was called Memories. However I must know, why can't the ratings page show just for Memories? They are merely segments of a whole movie after all, and I cant imagine anyone seeing one segment and not the whole movie. I'm aware that some segments seem to be more highly regarded than another (how people can seemingly dislike Cannon Fodder is beyond me...) but I do feel thta the movie should be rated as a whole. The fact that Magnetic Rose and Stink Bomb both have the same number of votes and same rating (as of the last time I checked) only goes to further show that as it stands the individual ratings for each segment only succedes at taking up space when they could all be rated as one. Um yeah, sorry for sorta ranting there, and thanks.

Hmm. I couldn't find it, even for Cowboy Bebop which is number one on the ratings page in Top 10 Best Rated (bayesian estimate). But I mean in the page about Cowboy Bebop. Maybe I'm not being clear with what I mean. Oh, I know. So I'm here: Cowboy Bebop I see the link on the right to go to the Top 10: anime/manga, but I'm looking for the rating for this anime here. It's quite possible I'm missing it (I've been known to miss the obvious ![]() ![]() I was looking for Urusei Yatsura and I just figured by the votes in Underrated that not a lot of people have see it. |

That's just a coincidence. But I guess it makes sense that all the best titles have been picked up by US companies. But if you look at the underrated list, for example, there's quite a few unlicensed shows.
From our point of view it's more a matter of cast/staff. On anthology movies like this, each segment will usually have a completely different cast and staff. I think it makes more sense to make them separate entities than to have a comment indicating the segment for each and every staff and cast member.
The movie *can* be rated as a whole, but I feel people should also have the option of rating the individual parts. These aren't "just" segments, they're entirely unique and independant parts. The fact that they were bundled together seems almost irrelevant to me. For Memories maybe the quality difference between the segments isn't so great, but what about the Animatrix? Or Robot Carnival? Well, maybe I should add some check to make sure that people either give different ratings to the segments or just give one rating to the movie... |

If I've seen an anime in multiple versions (i.e. I've seen Tenchi dubbed, edited, and by the end of this weekend subbed) does it count as multiple votes? If so, isn't that kinda like falsely boosting an anime. I'm really not sure what I'm getting at because I can see the value of having multiple versions, I'm just worried about:
Maybe I just need to have a little faith. ![]() Also, (it just keeps going, sorry) is there a way to set in the preferences for it to always show the detailed rating graph instead of the condensed version. |
