Reverse the Roman numerals, and I'll agree. Anyone who hates on part nine doesn't seem to get that it's a tribute game.

Nothing's wrong with Final Fantasy IX to me. There are far worse games that Square Enix have created in, and out of the Final Fantasy series.

Just out of curiosity, is the most swearing ever done by an ANN staff member in one column? Aren't we a family news outlet?

come on SE get off your butts and give us Xenogears figures instead
I'm so tired of FF VII...
but nice to see the toy column back; although I am a bit surprised by the aggressive writing style from the new columnist

Cid Highwind is probably my favorite FF character of all time. It pisses me off how he gets brushed off. I too want a Cid action figure

Lord, that would be amazing (enough Kos-Mos figures! Just give us Fei and the gang)

Join the club. Square is really cashing in on the success of FF7 in any way they can. Unfortunately, since they've effectively butchered the franchise in the process they've also only killed my interest in what was once one of my favorite games and stories.
If they want to keep exploring the franchise, they should do so in a way that actually adds to it. Advent Children was pretty, but as a story it was a complete mess and as a sequel I wouldn't even call it a "mess" because that would be to generous. Time to let FF7 go Square, all this attention you've given the FF7 franchise are little more than cash-ins and it shows.

Was that really necessary? What's with all the swearing in this article? I just wanted to see a review on figures, not get language and bashing of the other FF games. Now I feel annoyed, haha, and shouldn't when reading something like that. Wow.

Zac, I do think it may be a bit much
it doesn't offend me personally but the abundance comes across sounding a bit unprofessional (too much like an angry anonymous for my taste)
I don't mean to offend Rob or anything I'm just saying a little less swearing might make me take what he's saying a little more seriously

The column has now been sanitized for your protection. In the future no more scary swear words will appear in that space.
MOD NOTE: The offending words have been removed from the column; any further off-topic discussion will not be tolerated.

(aw, did I miss it?)
Anyway;
Quote: | The sculptors have managed to find a happy medium between the pinched, “realistic” look of the CG versions of the character from the original game, and the more “realistic” faces of Advent Children |
Just wondering if the first 'realistic' is supposed to say something else? It just sounds kinda weird, not to mention the original game hardly looks what I'd call 'realistic'. Perhaps 'cartoony'?

Not a bad article (and I'm familiar with Bricken's work through Wizard Entertainment), but where it's only bi-weekly It would be nice to have more substance than just a single review of figures that came out last year. The old Super Plastic column was nice because it covered a lot of information and was semi-interactive in the same way some of the other columns here look for a little bit of reader participation. It just felt a little detached, not even an intro to the article or even an intro to the writer since I'm sure he's a relative unknown to most of the people here. It just feels a little stale compared to the other works here, but as a Japanese toy collector I do look forward to seeing what the next article has in store.

For the record, S-E is already giving more focus to Final Fantasy IV considering how the release of the DS game has now reignited its popularity. Figures have also been made for it too.
Personally, I want to see more figures being made for the classic series. I sure as hell would love to see the six warriors of light on my shelf.

IV? That's awesome news! I'm not big on figurines, but I would definitely get some from FFIV for nostalgia sake, depending on which version they use (I'm so used to the ingame sprites that I don't really like Amano's versions.)

Keonyn: I'm all Final Fantasied-out, period. It's all about Dragon Quest for me.

Have you played Crisis Core for the PSP yet? Because that game really does add a lot to the backstory of FFVII and does so in the form of a very solid action RPG.
