Wasn't Langrisser just an old video game RPG series and NEVER an anime? If there was an anime series run on this I would surely like to know. I like the art.

Urushibara...
The closest thing to his work is... well, his own work: Legend of Lemnear It's not Langrissier, but it's still his work. |

Those are indeed well loved character designs by Satoshi Urushihara! Unfortunately Langrissier was not made into an OVA series or movie. But as Cookie said there is the Legend of Lemnear OVA which also showcases Urushihara's awesome character designs. Also if you like his designs in general, rewatch BGC OVA #8 he was the guest character designer; his designs are the sole reason why Vision aka Reika Chang is one of the most expensive character to purchase cels from the OVA series. Moreover, if you like his artwork you should investigate the games; I don't know much console games but I think that it was originally on Saturn and NEC PC-FX. The 1 and 2 (there is 5 in all) where also released on PS1 and on PC. I don't know for the others, probably also Saturn and PS1. But Langrisser Millenium is on Dreamcast. (design is total differant) I think that there is an English version of the 1 and 2 released under another name. He also did a series called, Chirality which was not animated and other called Plastic Little which was. Good luck!

Is it Urushihara? In the Legend of Crystania novels, there are several graphic inserts of his work, and unless I'm going blind it reads "Urushibara Satoshi" (tenten on the 'ha' in 'hara'). I suppose it's not much of a difference, and he might've changed his preferred reading (since the character can be read as 'hara' or 'bara' without problems).. |

Urushihara is the name we use in the cel collecting community. There are many international collectors of his work, excluding myself, and Yann Stettler the owner of Animanga is one of the largest. http://www.animanga.com/cels/gallery/index.en.html He has a massive, evergrowing collection and is a reliable source on famous character designs like: Urushihara, Hirano, Mikimoto, and Kakinouchi. He can be reached [email protected] and he owns the Animanga forums which hold insightful information.

Heya Mahoro, those Langrisser Cels are fabulous! I love those desgns. I read up on some of the story lines on the video games. IF only they were a full fledged anime, but alas I shall revert to my Dreamcast for Millenium. Hehe, I shall order it...like now.
Thanks again. D.W. |

Damn straight! Those cels albeit reproductions are gorgeous looking! If you ever see one on evilbay odds are it is a reproduction make years ago by a Korean animation studio. You would be extremely hardpressed to find an original hanken from any of Satoshi Urushihara's series.
