I found about it a few weeks ago and I can't wait to buy it. The official site is in Japanese but there are alot of other sites where i got info. I really like the subbed TechTV trailer.

From the trailers, it looks very good. Probably one of the best for this year, and maybe it might have 2005 Oscars written all over it. I don't know if that'll happen, but if it does, I'd be very happy!!! Anyway, it should be coming to America, I hope, this summer ,and if not, in time for the 2004 Christmas season. And if they do release it in America, they should have a sneak preview of FF12. Now, that would be cool!!!

Aack! I know this thread is supposed to be for FANS of the game/show, but I for one am not excited. Call me what you will, but I thought the game was miserable and the show kind of meandering. I could have sworn I already saw something like this at Blockbuster though...

Well, I aqm very excited 'cause FF:7 is my third favorite FF, and the ending just didn't do anything for me. This will make me all schoolgirly again.

At the risk of being brutally raped and slaughtered by about 80% of the anime community, I'm just not a Final Fantasy fan. The storylines are sorely overrated, the gameplay is bland, their classification as "RPGs" is dubious at best, the hardcore fan community terrifies me (even moreso than the lower rungs of anime fanboyism)...I'm just not into it at all (save for Tactics, but that in itself was a vast departure from the rest of the franchise).
That said, Advent Children does look intriguing, and the animation is impressive even in its rough stages (I think I remember hearing that all of the footage being shown now would be scrapped and redone before the film saw final release). Assuming I can get caught up on this "great" FF7 saga, I'll likely check it out. |

Hahah, Final Fantasy fans frighten you? I'm sorry I didn't mean to be a scary person. Even more than scary, live in basement with parents even, anime fanboys?? Well, as long as it isn't like Spirits Within, looks awesome, turns out to be horrible, than I shall shed many a tear.

If anyone wants to download the subbed trailer as i mentioned before, here is the link: http://ff7-2.com/index.php?id=videos. It's 20mbs long but it's worth it. If you don't want the subbed ones the other ones are cool too.

I would like to see it but to be honest i'm really not excited about it. The main reason now FF games sell so much is simply the name, the games have been going downhill and I don't even really bother to play most of the newer ones because the only good thing about them are the graphics. The only ones that I still play are Tactics and FF11. Tactics because as Nagisa said was totally different from any other FF game square has made and its a shame they never made another like it because the gameplay in that was unmatched, then again there was tactics advance which I was very excited about but when I got it was a major disappointment. FF11 is another exception because its an MMO and I also wouldn't even play that if world of warcraft was out.

I would be if its name were FFVIII: Advent Children. Pretty much every single FF fan upholds FFVII as the greatest RPG ever, but it just didn't do it for me. My favourite was FFVIII, which unfortunately didn't do too well sales wise so it is unlikely that we'll see more of it in the future… a pity. By the way Iscariot, if you liked the type of game play in FF: Tactics then you should check out Disgaea for PS2 as it has a similar game play. There is also another game on GBA with similar game mechanics, it is called Tactics Ogre and is very hard to find. I have it and bear testament to its greatness. |

The only FF games I really liked were X and now X-2. I guess I'm just a sucker for good graphics, since they definitely weren't the best "RPG's" I ever played. The animation on FF7: Advent Children pretty good, but I don't think that will justify me being excited over it. |

It looks decent.
I wish they left the characters looking more anime like the original designs but it could be good. We'll see.I do have faith. Of course, I have my copy preordered already j |

I'm looking forward to it, being a FF fan and all. Althought the characters do look like drug addicts a bit. But other than that I'm really looking forward to it.

Square announced the remake of FFVII-FFIX for the PS2 ages ago. I believe that they have since quietly dropped the idea. Once again this is a pity since FFVIII with remade graphics would have been at the higher limits of cooldom. |

Yeah they dropped it. This was due to the fact that they would have to start from scratch, unlike FFX-2, where they used bassically the same engine so they could easilty make that.

The FFVII-IX remakes are just products of the rumor mill that have stuck around extra long.
I've never seen an official square press release stating that they'd be remaking them. I don't know if it was from Square themselves, but I remember an interview or somesuch somewhere that mentioned they wouldn't be remaking them for the PS2, since it's backward compatable and it's quite easy to just play the originals on that machine. That' being said, I agree with kamiboy about FFVIII. It's one of my favorites. I thought the approach was different, and I ate up the pseudo-love-story. I also enjoyed FFVII a great deal, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't highly anticipating Advent Children. |
