I've just finished up the first DVD (eps 1-5) of Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross & have noticed a few instrumental knockoffs of 80's tunes being used as BGM. Fairly soon into the first episode I noticed a familiar drum intro (& then a guitar line) that confirmed for me that the person responsible for the music may have been a fan of the band Big Country. Big Country was/is one of my favorite bands (RIP Stuart Adamson) & it was a bit of a surprise to hear:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-UkbP-07GE&feature=related Start listening at about the 2 minute mark & it continues on for 30 seconds. I couldn't find many Southern Cross anime clips on UT but that one had it. The original music video is below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkr_2G3Jlko but a better clip is below using the album version from "The Crossing" that has the full drum intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOgCjTXVnWk&feature=related But that's not it, I've also heard others that sound like: Synchronicity II by The Police A song by Genesis - Abacab?? (maybe) & another one that could be either - Iko Iko by the Belle Stars, I Want Candy by Bow Wow Wow or Deathwish by the Police?!? I know that those 3 songs have little in common but in an instrumental/muzak-y sense it could be any one of them... I'd like it to be Deathwish for obscurity's sake as it's not one of The Police's best known songs Are there any others that I may have missed? Are there more to come in the episodes ahead? |
