Does anyone know if/when Stand alone complex will be dubbed?

I've got the series on DVD with subtitals. It's great, but I'd love to get an english dubbed version. I know this is still a very new anime series, but if anyone has any idea's of when this will be availible in english dub I'd love to know.

Also on the same subject, do you think (hope) they will use the same voice actors as they did for the original Ghost in the Shell movie? should the dubbing ever happen.

The dubbing, if it isn't complete by now, is in the process of being done seeing as Stand Alone Complex is being prepped for a run on Adult Swim.

The likelihood of Bandai hiring the same VA's that Manga Entertainment did, though, is slim. It may happen, but I think it'd be more likely to expect either a completely new cast or the standard modern stand-outs like Wendee Lee and David Lucas to have roles.

That may or may not be true. Ken Iyadomi did serve as executive producer for Manga's GITS. I don't think that it's too likele though

Even if it was made by the same company, I'd say the chances are slim that the same VAs would be used.

Take a look at shows like DBZ and Sailor Moon (GITS is much higher above these, in my opinion, but just an example). The VAs change quite frequently and without warning. This often happenes between dubbing sessions. They do a group of episodes, then take a break, then do some more, with new actors.

In North America, VAs aren't as popular as, say, movie actors, so the companies don't really care about getting the original actors anyway. In Japan, VAs are insainly popular, so it was important to get the same actors from the GITS movie for SAC.

It would be great to see the same actors come back, but not likely. Can't wait for the dub, in any event!

eh, the mentioned anime are older ones that were done by Ocean, and Viz, and dubbed in Canada. Ocean has had a bad rap for that sort of stuff. But things have been changing, and fans are getting much more attached to VAs.

The dubbing has been going on for over half a year, so they should be well into the series by now.

As for the dub, it's being handled by pretty much exactly the same people who worked on the movie. The two people who ran Manga US at the time (Ken Iyadomi and Yutaka Maseba) are now in charge of Bandai Entertainment and ZRO Limit Productions respectively, and it's the same dubbing company (Animaze). It's been confirmed that Motoko will have a new VA (Mary Elizabeth McGlynn/Melissa Williamson), but that Bateau will have the same one (Richard Epcar). Beyond that the cast is unknown, but I believe most of the VAs who would be needed to return have had roles in recent dubs.

I really can't imagine this show in english, the Japanese dub is absolutely perfect.

Dragonball Z was an extreme case, where the entire cast got replaced when Funimation decided to move dubbing in-house after Saban dropped out and they had to cut costs.

But cast changes are pretty much to be expected for any show that's dubbed over an extended period of time, especially when the cast doesn't consist of established dub actors... Look at Tenchi, Giant Robo, Neon Genesis Evangellion, Blue Seed, Fushigi Yûgi, You're Under Arrest, etc.
