Yes, it is a very good series, if you like story driven anime.
If on the other hand, you are simply looking for an action series, then this is probably not for you. |

Yes, I've been meaning to give Gasaraki a second shot. What I've seen of it, it looks really good...full of political intrigue and featuring some mechs that, if I may say so, seem a bit more realistic than your average anime robot.
Problem is, the DVD player I had back when I tried renting the series the first time was ultra-sensitive, and the DVDs skipped like jackrabbits on acid. |

What I have seen of the show I liked. To the mods please make this topic readable, I didn't know what I was gonna be reading about when the title is misspelled and he spells any good, any good.

Well sorry if I misspelled it but the Encyclopedia spells it gasaraki.

I thought it is spelled Gasaraki...at least that's what it says on my U.S. released boxset...
I really liked this series though it took me a few eps. to get into it and understand what is going on...it was not what I expected it to be (a typical violent, mindless, mecha series) |

Gasaraki is not too bad, decent story and a good ending. Plus the price for the box set ain't bad at all.
on a side note, I picked up Gasaraki back in Januay of '03 (when tensions in Iraq where growing). I just found it kinda funny, that here I was watching an anime where a US-led coalition attack a middle-eastern country for possessing alleged weapons of mass destruction. |

The encyclopedia is right, it's gasaraki and you put gararaki. |

it was an ummm, interesting series, believe it or not, it confused me more than Eva the first time around, after the third time, I understood it, very deep plot, and story driven.

Slightly OT but www.therightstuf.com is having a sale where you can get all eight disks of gasaraki for $29.99, so if anyones thinking of picking up the series now would be a great time to do so.

It's a good series, but it requires commitment... it moves pretty slowly.
Not sure I'd buy it a full price again, but if you can get it cheap, do so... |

It was a pretty good series.
I remember when it came out in Japan, everyone referred to it as AT Votoms set to the pacing of Evangelion. Framing and camera work is very similar to Eva, but the use of color is far more muted and earthy and the actual elements in the composition are different than Eva's. Robots and story are more like Dougram or Votoms...which I guess makes sense since it was the same guy who directed all 3 Lots of miltiary jargon and intrigue, etc etc. I recommend it. j |
