I'm sorry if this is stated somewhere on this site, but i've been searching for over an hour now and can't find anything.
Since an episode of Wandering Son was dropped from the TV broadcast (and thus does not appear on Crunchyroll) and is instead only present on the DVD/BD release, I was wondering if there had been any word on an official english release?
I know the chance is slim, but considering Kuragehime is getting an english release, I can certainly hold hope for this anime too. It's especially frustrating not being able to see the missing episode in any way Sad
Thanks for any information.

The fact that you can't find any information about BD/DVD releases of this title should be telling. If nothing is mentioned about it in the news links for our Encyclopedia entry about the series then nothing has been officially announced about it. Nobody in forums will know more, as we have people on staff who get their info directly from Japanese sources.

Frankly, I would be shocked if this one gets a home release, even subbed-only. It may be a quality series (based on what I've heard), but its appeal seems too limited to generate sufficient sales.

You may want to check out the Fantagraphics Books edition of Wandering Son- no idea if the anime'll ever get a dvd release, but they've released 2 volumes in oversized hardcover format, and are releasing vol.3 next May http://www.amazon.com/Wandering-Son-Book-Three/dp/1606995332/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1321814393&sr=1-1 as part of their manga line coordinated by Matt Thorn

It's a very good series but there's no way anyone would license it now. Maybe back in the Bubble, but not now. 'Tis a shame, but hey, that's where fansubs come in.

Yeah, and that earthquake really messed up Anime schedules. I don't want to make light of all the death and destruction, but to me, the quake was an annoying inconvenience.

Thanks for the link, i'll almost certainly at least start collecting the manga to support the series Smile

Unfortunately after searching for ages, I still can't seem to find a single person who has fansubbed the DVD episodes. It's almost as if they don't exist :'(

You can download fansubs of the television broadcast episodes, rip the subs out and add them to a raw of the DVD (which you will also need to download). It is certainly possible, though you do need to have more knowledge and skill than the average fan to pull it off successfully.

I know it isn't strictly legal, but since it hasn't been licensed for home video release in English I highly doubt any rational person would begrudge you.

There's always a chance of a sub-only Australian release from Siren - they've released a few noitaminA series now that haven't had a US release - although since they've already announced Usagi Drop they may have skipped Hourou Musuko (although Hourou Musuko is owed by Aniplex which might complicate things).

As far as I can tell it wasn't the earthquake that limited the episodes, it was the, always odd, noitaminA 11-episode count. And of course they didn't technically drop an episode, they combined episodes 10 and 11 to make one broadcast version "episode 10/11" , the Japanese video releases contain the two episodes separated and uncut.

I'm a bit surprised no one has come up to bat to sub the uncut episodes of 10 and 11 though. Sure, the clubs that were doing them were just making crunchy-rips, but I thought there were enough fans out there for a group to treat the two as a special release and just do those two.

Yeah I was really dissapointed to find that none of the major subbing groups had done the DVD episodes Sad

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for sure! I notice that alot of people request anime on the Siren facebook page, and they occasionally even respond with weather they think its possible Smile
