Inu-Yasha, Fushigi Yuugi (sort of), and there was some other anime...I forget what it's called, but these two kids had a magic Bible and used it to travel back to the times of Jesus Christ. |

Flint the time detective. But this is aimed at a younger audience.

Urusei Yatsura has a couple episodes that involve time travel, but I can only think of 2 in 100 episodes.
But it also has old-time stories involving the characters of present day (not really time-travel but...kind of). If your looking for stories that revolve around ancient Japanese myths and stuff, it's a excellent show since it carries many different stories in it's episodes. |

I dont know if we are thinking about the same thing but I do recall an anime when 3 kids (a blond girl, a black haired short kid and a brown haired tall guy) got sucked into some sand during an excavation site and woke up in the Bible Times. I think one of the kids name was Marco.... Well - the show was awesome. I really enjoyed it. But its very old. Something with time travel? You are right, there should be more of this. I mean, there are some titles that involve time travel but there isnt a good show of that genre. Although... DBZ has some time travel (Mirai Trunks) - I know its stupid but the only one I can remember now |

I think it was called Superbook in the States. I kind of liked that show. The first Tenchi Movie also featured time travel. |

Oh, man! Superbook was HORRID!
Don't they go back in time in El Hazard, or is that just an alternate universe? |

I think it was a bit of both. Infurita goes back in time from El Hazard to meet up with makoto in his past on earth. From that point on Makoto is sent into the world of El Hazard to set things in motion. Something like that. Jinnai's laugh was the best. D.W. |

I didn't know Superbook is anime......especially since Christianity isn't a major religion in Japan............ |

Now and Then, Here and There revolves around time-travel. Although it goes into the future and not the past, so a series about hitorical time travel would be nice; and no, Flint does not count.
I used to watch Superbook . You know just the other day, I was thinking that the character designs on that show were surprisingly anime-esque. I wondered if the creaters were influenced by anime. What a shock it was to learn it actually was from Japan - never guessed because it was a Christian series! |

AHA! I found it! A new anime that is all about time travel!!!
Ougon no Hou (The Golden Laws) I think it went to the cinemas around the 11th of November. Here is the official page The story: In the year 2403 a couple of school friends - a boy named Satoru and a girl called Arisu - get into a time machine New Atlantis, to beggin w fascinating journey in time, to meet many historical and mythological characters and to get into a lot of trouble of course. In their time travel, Satoru and Arisu will go to Ancient Greece, Egypt, India, China, Israel and meet such characters as Hermes, Aphrodyte, Prometheus, Mouses (I dont remember how to write his name in english - he is the guy who opened the sea), Gautama Siddartha, T`ien-t`ai Chuh-i, Manjursi and...... Jesus Christ |

I agree with the noting of DBZ, but I don't agree with the noting of it being a stupid example .
DBZ actually has some fantastic time-travelling going on in it. What's interesting is the approach Toriyama took to time-travel... unlike most time-travel conventions, Toriyama goes with the "alternate" / "split" timeline. That is, actions caused by time-travel cause an alternate timeline to brand off, creating two completely distinct and concurring timelines. I think DBZ ends up with, like, four timelines during the Cell saga, if you want to really get technical about it. It's actually VERY intriguing and well planned-out. |

Heh, anyone else find it funny how when people time travel they also turn up in a different part of the world? It's like, "OK, I'm in America right now, but when I go back to 105BC I'll be in ancient Rome!

[lame excuse]Well you see, the world spins (normally) so obviouly when you travel back in time (time being the key) the world spins backwards. So, you have to travel exactly 24 per day (well not exactly since time isn't exactly 24 hours per day anyway) to end up in the same spot, otherwise you'll end up at some other coordinate on the world based on the year/month/day/hour/minute/second time returns to normal.
So if it is 12:00PM 12/22/2003 in NY and you travel back to 4AM 105BC the world unspins 8 hours more than when you left so you'll end up somewhere around Isreal and Turkey. I think.[/lame excuse] So if you think of time travel like that then, no, it is not strange. |
