I think this should be an interesting thread that no one has ever done before,so anyway my question is,how did you first get introduced or discovered Toonami on Cartoon Network for the first time, because we all have different unique ways that we first found Toonami anime.
as for me,back in 1999 in my 9th grade year,I did'nt have cartoon network at first and so,I remember one time in my 9th grade year,I went to visit over at my cousin's house one time and he showed me what Toonami was all about, and I was surprised to See Sailor Moon and DBZ on there( although I was originally introduced to DBZ and sailor moon on UPN syndication back in 1995 and 1996),
and when my cousin first showed me toonami,it was back than when I first saw my first episodes of Tenchi Muyo and Gundam Wing, which changed my life, and then for than on, my cousin would always record new episodes of DBZ,Sailor Moon and gundam wing for me,whenever he would come to visit.
and it was'nt untile september 2002 when I first got my very own cartoon network channel, and I was very excited than.
and so,how did you first discover Toonami?

Well, I think I was still a wee(-er) lad when I was sitting on my couch, too lazy too move (back when I had cable service), and after whatever show I was currently watching had ended, (likely Dexter's Laboratory or something), a large cgi spaceship flew in-screen with some alien-like individual on it previewing what looked like giant flying robots with swords, so I assumed it was the "Really cool robot show, Gundam!" that I had recently heard of from my other wee(-er) friends, so I decided that I would give it a try.
That's just about my life story there, summed up in a sentence.

OMG, I was in 5th grade (currently a senior in college). I remember seeing the first commercials for it too. I saw a glimpse of Thundercats and was overjoyed to finally see it again. Then my bro was like, cool Voltron, and I was all "WTF is Voltron?"
And Robotech was awesome too.

I just came across it by just flipping onto the channel. I didn't understand what Toonami was at the time though, or even anime for that matter. It wasn't for a few more years that I saw a few episodes of Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin that I really started to like it. However, I had cable television in stints, and since both the shows I mentioned were on when the news was, I rarely got to see them.

I new about it around the time it launched through a friend with satellite, but at that time it was only showing repeats of syndicated shows and old HB toons. When Toonami hit I was already calling myself an otaku and a Junior in high school so I wasn't missing much not actually being able to watch the block (it was all stuff I had grown up with or seen in syndication), CN wouldn't come to my cable carrier until 2002.

My introduction to Toonami and Cartoon Network was the same as my introduction to anime:
I was channel surfing one day and this cute guy on this cartoon caught my eye. I stopped and watched and the story caught me. They were having a marathon of Sailor Moon. The second season actually. That got me interested and I just began taping anything SM.
And I've loved anime ever since.
As for watching Toonami - I haven't watched it in quite some time. I've graduated to [adult swim].

I can't remember when it was exactly, but it's not too long ago (probably 2-4 years ago). I was channel surfing as usual and I found out they were gonna start showing anime on our Cartoon Network. I told my brother about it and turns out he already knew about it cause he was watching Gundam Wing (English dub) on Toonami that time. I don't really watch Toonami though, cause ours is different - we don't get a lot of anime from that channel. We only have a few series and they're not the ones I like to watch (Zoids, Mirmo de Pon, Gundam Seed, Pokemon and Naruto).

My story is boring as hell. I simply watched Cartoon Network to begin with, intermittently, and turned on one day and found Toonami. That's it. Boring as hell like I said lol.

Nostalgic indeed...
Oh, um well Sailor Moon was my gateway to Toonami; it all began when my older sister was watching it one day but I didn't take interest to it since I was a ignorant child then, but I unknowingly one day just sat next to her and just started watching it (boredom overcame me?) and it basically picked up from there, and I'll let you decide if I came to terms with the series or not. Oh yeah, I befriended Pokémon and Transformers years later.

Cartoon network and adult swim have basically kicked anime to the curb which pisses me off. I remember watching Ruruni Kenshin, G Gundam, Yu yu Hakushu during toonami with some dragonball added sometimes and at night it was Inuyasha, Blue Gender, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop. Also they added some .Hack and Gundam Seed on Saturdays. I liked S-Cry-Ed alot also. They should also add Grenadier The Senshi of Smiles to their action night because its almost exactly the same as Trigun except with a chick. They say they are airing Bleach now but they never even make it to the scene where Rukia is about to be executed and gets saved before they start all over from episode 1. I think I have seen up to episode 157 and yet adult swim cant even make it past episode 57.
Thank God there are fan sites that release good animes 2-3 times a week you can get on bit torrents because cartoon network is basically a pile of shit now. Their sunday night so called comedy lineup is just retarded. If they want a true comedy lineup show some echhi. Show something like Maburaho, Girls Bravo, Love Hina, or Green Green. Its like they want people to stop watching and either watch stuff online or on Anime network. Mark my word unless Cartoon network gets with the program they might as well cancel anime cause everyone can watch everything on Youtube and Megavideo with subs and not crappy dubbing.

My intro to Toonami started with a bang.
I've always been a late sleeper and I'd been around 12. One night I was channel surfing for good shows and I just chanced upon Toonami. And the Australian Toonami had a different programme schedule. And their earlist show on a Friday night happend to be Cowboy Bebop.
And this encounter turned me from just a regular anime fan into a hardcore one.
It was a nice way to get to know Toonami, I suppose. The rest of the schedule included Trigun, Orphen, Tenchi Muyo, Gasaraki and Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, which I also watched with glee every week.

Ah..the story of my history.
Anyway in the year 2000 I moved with my grandma and just walked home from my new HS. I flipped to CN and seen Sailor Moon. I was amazed being that I haven't seen it since I was 10. Then DBZ came on. Another show i haven't seen since childhood.
I was introduced to Gundam Wing, Outlaw Star, and Tenchi.
Each one was a representative of the genres mech, comedy harem, sci fi, action and shojo. Each one got me into anime and I became a fan ever since.
The rest is history.....
