Coming from a guy who enjoys scifi fantasy in the mideval type settings and being a writer myself, this is by far one of the best I have seen in a while! After feeling a bit rushed from seeing Scrapped Princess which I also enjoyed on a slightly lower level, Full Metal Alchemist continues to be fun and interesting displaying magic in its full splendor along with its consequences. I have only seen the first 11eps so far but thank you Bit torrent;p
I may just buy the DVD set upon release and I dont say that too often lol.
Oh yeah this also inspired enough hype to get a video game made though I have not played it.

Im not going to take the time to tell you WHAT its about but check this link for info. http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,1265,mybywf,fullmetal_alche.html

Beserk rules too!

Full Metal Alchemist is definitely a very enjoyable title. It is nice to know that the number of episodes has already been set at 50 (or 52, I can't remember) because it means the series won't drag on and on. So far the story has been great, especially the last few episodes which appear to be heralding the introduction of a more centralised plot.

Excellent! I cant wait to see more. I even enjoy the stories that break away from the main plot! The light hearted humor when it comes is pretty entertaining too. Laughing

Full Metal Alchemist is awesome. Also you should buy as many dvd box sets of great and good anime that you can afford. I use fansubs to see the latest stuff quench my anime thirst. Then I get the dvds later of the great shows I like when I can. Support the industry they need our help as much as possible. I can't wait for a FMA boxset just hope I can get all the fansubs first.

Well I will most likely get this set. But I have to keep a close eye on what I buy. My locker is already DVD packed lol. I had a friend who had a garage full of anime that he got from japan. he's more old school than me, but a "garage full". Too much for me.

Confused

Would one have to have seen Full Metal Panic to be able to enjoy this series? I have never seen it (although plan to pick it up one I get some money, damn Xmas) but still want to check this series out.

Nope.

FMA and FMP are completely different series, by different companies, with different characters, plots, technology... in short, the two have _absolutely nothing_ to do with one another.

The only similarity is in the naming; "Fullmetal" and "Full Metal". They aren't related properties at all.
