I was trying to update my "Profile" but I keep getting the following error:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING in /usr/domains/animenewsnetwork.com/htdocs/bbs/phpBB2/includes/usercp_register.php on line 521 Also, is there a way to set the forum to "Flat View" like before (if it's in the "Profile" then I have to overcome the error above first). yup. it's a known problem.. should be fixed by later tonight.
you can switch views from flat to threaded by clicking the 'threaded view' (or 'flat view') button in the upper right of the forum. |

Well, I can get into the profile link menu now, but when I go to change my default view to Flat...I get this huge error message.

All fixed.
Stupid php doesn't ignore comments when they are put in the middle of a multi line mysql command. Like any good programer (which I'm not) I commetn all my changes... well, phpbb has some very long MySQL statements that the programmers decided to split into several lines (as php ignores line breaks). Well, I modified several of these and posted comments before & after the lines I modified (as well as a remmed out copy of the original line). It's those comments, in the middle of MySQL statements that broke profile. <sigh> Now I have to go back and check every single change I made to make sure that I didn't do that in other places... |

All the threads appear threaded no matter if I choose the "Threaded" or "Flat" option in my profile.

Hmmm, indeed it does. The button atthe top of the page works though, so use that for now and I'll get this sorted out on the dev server. |

Hmm, the ability to switch between threaded/flat view is kinda neat, i appreciate your attempts Tempest. But the only thing that i don't like is that a new page has to be loaded up to view each post. If we could expand and colapse each post without it having to reload, that would be kinda cool. But i'm sure that would be too much of a pain.
But hey, this is still one of the best forums that i've found |

Interesting idea, lots of Javascript involved. Maybe in the future. |

That would be kinda like the news archive by topic we currently have.

Actually, yes, that is very similar to what i had in mind. Oh, and while we're talking about that, i thought that i would point out an error message i get when i try looking at the news archive when i click on archive by topic. It might just be me or this computer, but here is the error message i get: ============================ A runtime error has occurred Line: 6 Error: 'flRecall' is null or not an object ============================ The computer i'm on currently has various programing tools, so it asks me if i want to debug, but there is obviously not much i can do with this. First time i saw this error message, it took me back to the home page without letting me view the news archive, but the second time i was able to close the error and view the news with no problem. Hope this helps. |

I noticed in a locked thread the reply button image was missing. Instead it had the frame with a red X in it.
