Finally its over! I wonder if my wife has officially become an anime fan through this show but she loves and it's over. We just watch the last episode today(she watched it this morning and I watched it just now). I have to admit it was pretty good and very funny. It was realistic in the sense that it showed him progressing through the show. Just wanted to know your thoughts on this anime or is it just me and my wife are fans?lol
Hmmm I wonder what we shall watch next?

I watched that a long time ago, years before it was even licensed. It wasn't a bad series, I just lost interest. I've never really been a fan of boxing anime, but I gave the series/manga a try.
However, I do have a recommendation of a series that is a.) licensed in United States Of America. b.) a boxing show that your wife might like.
Fighting sprirt is the name of the series. The anime has been going on for several decades, has several OVA's, has nearly 900 manga chapters and has several movies. Also has several video games, I think one or two has been licensed in United States of America.
Straight up though, since the anime is somewhat "old" to newer anime fans (not bashing, but it may the case) the series may not be availible via HD format (that means there is a chance it may not come in 720 P) and I am not sure abouy Blu-ray (which is 1080 P, but you probably already knew that.)
Hope I helped.

I saw the first thirteen episodes and I'm looking to get the second part of season one for cheap. It was an interesting show with a REALLY mediocre dub. I made the mistake of not switching to the subs earlier. I'd like to see more, even though the idea of that old guy being interested in a young teenage girl like Miu is extremely creepy when you look into it.

I consider this to be an underrated series so I can understand someone liking it a lot. The martial arts aspect is good but not great, which is odd considering that is what the series is about.
What made this series work is the very odd way each of the characters end up caring about Kenichi. You never really see the reason they do, but the do somehow and you can't help trying to figure out why. Also you want to see if something develops between Kenichi and Miu, even though it is an obvious setup.

I just bought Season 1 Part 1 last week, and started watching it yesterday, and so far I like what I've seen, so I'll probably buy the rest when I'm done with this set.

Not to nitpick but can you really call Kenichi a "boxing anime?" I know there's a boxer as a major character but really isn't this a major general martial arts anime?
I've very much enjoyed what I've seen of Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple so far. The characters are interesting, have depth and are refreshingly rational. A little crazy but you understand them. I've only seen the first season so far though, I've got season 2 already but its in my backlog.
And I totally disagree with KanjiiZ's claims about the English dub. Hell, the voice for Kenichi's father alone makes it a great dub. ARISE SEBASTION! (Also, dude, the old man likes young girls pervy teacher character type has been around for decades. And old men marrying younger women isn't exactly new either.)
@ gundam83: A possible next series to watch suggestion. Bamboo Blade. I've been informed that the folks at Funi think there was a fair bit of crossover buying between Kenichi and Bamboo Blade. It's a shorter (like it's heroine) but quite good. It's about a Kendo team that has to recruit new girls to join so their teacher can win a bet and how the girls are changed by the experience of being a part of the team.

You've got an excellent point Richard J. Yeah, it's more martial arts than boxing, I was thinking it was boxing then.
That reminds me, Ranma 1/2 is another great martial arts series. It's an older series, but is exceptionally fantastic from beginning to last.
And as of this year, Ranma 1/2 is the only martial arts show that I really have liked. Yeah, Ranma 1/2 is all martial arts, but it's still an excellent watch.
