I heard 3 years ago that Fox was developing a dbz live action movie. I have heard nothing about it since then and if they are going to release it. Can anyone tell me if they are going to make it and when it will come out. thanks Very Happy

It's currently in pre-production limbo, but, now that Roland Emmerich (screw what everyone else says about it now, I still think Independence Day was one of the best summer popcorn movies of the 90s) is finished with The Day After Tomorrow, you may be hearing solid information about casting very soon.

Geez I hope not. I mean I'll admit it, I was a big fan of DBZ back in the heyday. Embarassed But a live action version is too much nyo.
I haven't seen that live action Dragonball movie...but I'll be sure NOT to.

The horror... Shocked

Dragon Ball Z live-action movie: a lot of flying around and bullet-time, with no real story whatsoever.

Yeah, the Matrix trilogy already did that. Only it also had a story and a cool wardrobe. I think I'll pass. Smile

Live action He-Man was a bust but live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles turned out awesome. Who know, who knows....

I don't think it's a dead project at Fox, but it certainly is a backburner one now since it was originally going to be a Summer 2004 release, and there is far too little time left to shoot that sort of event film from scratch.

Thank goodness no one posted that awful fake poster with the terrible Photoshopped logo that reads as "DZB".

I believe it was a Hong Kong based movie? Question
Ah well you can go to this site:

http://www.badmovies.org/movies/dragonball/index.html

Although it's extremely biased and not a very good site for info...but dang, just looking at those pictures... Shocked

I think the DB movie that you are refering too is indeed from Hong Kong but it has almost no connection to Akira Toriyamas Dragon Ball and it mostly based on Journey to the West/The Monkey King...
and about the live-action DB. As it is going to be based on DBZ I can already tell that they will be focusing on the ACTION and less on the plot (if there actually will be a plot Wink) because DBZ is full of action.... and aliens and demons.... you know: Crap Smile But I think it will be worth to watch for the special effects. I am going to see this movie - but I dont have great expectations, and also I am not lookign forward to it.
And also - if anyone saw Shoulin Soccer - probablt the live action DB will be similar to it in special effects.

Is it just me, or do the effects in Day After Tomorrow remind
look like they were influenced by Akira and Harmageddon? And I don't care about ID4, but he must be smacked for Godzilla 1998.
