Watched the very beginning of the first episode of this at a friend's house. The animation seemed decent. Friend said it was based on a videogame, and that the first scene seemed to follow it exactly. Personally I have never played the game, so it's all new to me.
I've noticed a lot of negative reviews, but I've also been told a lot of the game's fans didn't like the changes made to the storyline, which could create bias towards the overall quality. Anyone seen this anime? Anyone who hasn't played the game as well? Should I bother watching the rest of it, or is it a lost cause? |

if you want the full story play the video game, the anime is good if you dont wanna sit through the whole game. lots of people didn't like ep.1 of the video game cause it was like 390584358 hours of movies and 30 mins of action

I've played the game and watched the anime, I really like it. Though it is much faster then the game and doesnt go into much detail. But yes, I would say definetly watch it.

I tried to like it (5 eps) but I just couldn't, one of the worst animes I've seen.

I agree. Definitely one of the worst I've seen as well, as I just couldn't take it anymore after 5 or 6 episodes. Decent art, average animation, weak music and even worse storytelling. It just got to be so painfully boring that I just had to stop watching in order to preserve my sanity. |

I didn't rate this one amongst the "worst ever" but I didn't give it a stellar rating either. It's a "so-so" affair in my books. The overall quality of the 2D animation wasn't exactly spectacular. I remember it as being rather mundane looking. Believe it or not I only watched the entire thing because of a pretty cool PVC figure of the KOS-MOS which I purchased (it also helped that the series was relatively short). All in all the show didn't really have any weight in its story telling: People running from point A to point B, stuff happening, plot twists thrown to keep the story moving and not much else. My biggest complaint being that I found the characters to be rather un-engaging and flat...about as flat as the tone of voice used by the KOS-MOS.

The vast majority of the character development in the game version was left out in this severely condensed version. I rated it a 3 or so on ANN's scale. It's not just a bad adaptation of one of my favorite video games, It's just a really bad series. The music, animation, character design, and such are all weaker than the source material, but also very unimpressive considered on their own.
The game takes about 30 hours, and about 5 of those are cutscenes. It's a huge ratio compared to a lot of games, but it's not that bad, considering that the storyline and characters are really well developed. |
