SOMEONE GIVE THEM A HUG ALREADY!!!!
I don't recognize the boy...looks like a few details were changed (of course, they'd have to make a few changes to make this version stand out on its own)

I am probably heartless for admitting this, but this context-less clip made me laugh really hard.
I'm sure that if I ever see the movie, I will emote appropriately, but this just reminds me how common scenes like this are in japanese films.

Yeah, I don't know who the boy is either, unless there was a re-write to make Koki a relative or had that bratty cousin whose name I can't remember re-written as a boy.
It'd be interesting to see this movie, though. I wonder how far into the story they'd go with it, and what other changes they did to it. I'd actually buy it (not speaking the language be damned) if they end it with Daikichi marrying Koki's mom.

I was going through my mind if I had read this scene in the manga. I couldn't for the life of me find anything about it. It had to be somehow written in.

According to Cinema Today, the scene follows Rin and her friend Kōki (Ruiki Satō) as they visit the grave of Kōki's father.

Actually, I felt like crying when I saw Ashida Mana-chan crying. I mean, she's a total master at making viewers cry, especially since her playing Rin reminded me of her role in Mother.
