Hold on! Death Note is going to air next year in America? Is that mean someone (more likely Viz) already licensed it but is not going to announce it officially?

Honestly speaking, I couldn't care less about a spin off to the movie. Right now all I want to know is who, when and where in regards to Death Note TV airing in the States!

The "air" link didn't say anything about Death Note airing next year in the states, just that when it did, it would do well.
And as far as I've heard, it's an L spinoff, which could be done in the same style as the Death Note novel, where Naomi Misora also played a role. I'm not sure where I heard it, but an L movie seems to be the most likely spinoff possible.

That link also says the Death Note manga is ion-going in Japan, which as far as I'm aware isn't true at all.

I would cry tears of joy if it were an L movie. Although I can't say I'm all that impressed with the guy who plays him in the movie... :/
The anime is so freaking amazing that I can't wait for it to be released here so I can own it. adult swim better be snapping that up if they know what's good for them.

That's for sure. The anime is freakin' awesome. It'd be great if it were to play on AS here in the states when it comes.

There was definitely nothing said in either the ANN article or the ICv2 article that would suggest the Death Note anime airing over here next year.
That said, I really hope it does. Naruto last year, Bleach this year, and Death Note next year!

There will indeed be an L spinoff movie, as both the character and the actor portraying him are wildly popular, but as far as I know (from searching various japanese and fan sites) the exact kind of film it will be has not been announced. One can assume it involves L kicking all kinds of cerebral mind-game ass. *grins*
Can we please get some real confirmation about the anime? Perhaps from whomever supposedly licensed it? Viz? Would you like to say something to us all?
The manga quite definitely ended, it is not ongoing. All good things, eh?

"and the Death Note TV series is expected to air next year in America."
Nothing, huh?
the ICv2 article is talking about Death Note airing in Japan As it was written Sept. 29, Just before it aired.

An L movie? :3 As good as that sounds, I was almost hoping it was gonna be about Mello and Near, oh well.
They say it'll air next year in the US but I haven't heard anything about it being licensed... :/

Hmm interesting. I cannot wait for Death Note to come to the USA. The anime is one of the best I have seen. All I hope is Viz does not get it. I hope Funi gets it.

Yes, it will be an L spin-off movie. It will mostly be based on Vol.13 of the manga, which is all about L. Wikipedia it. Also IIRC, the actor for L in this spin-off movie will be the same one from the other DEATH NOTE movies.
