Hi there,

hope somebody can answer this question about RahXephon !
I saw some trailers online about this Anime, some are in 16:9 Widescreen,
and other just in full screen !Sad

I am not sure now,as I was about to buy the Anime and I would prefer the Widescreen edition if there is any from the TV show and the Movie and I don't want to buy some fullscreen box if there is a Widescreen edition out !!

Would be great if someone could help with some info here about the aspect ratio ! thanks !

Rahxephon is supposed to be in fullscreen. The widescreen trailers were made like that to have more of a cinematic feel to them.

All of RahXephon is in fullscreen. However, if you wait long enough, I'm sure FUNimation could crop it and claim it's being "remastered in widescreen" after the license expires from ADV. Or, maybe even ADV could crop and re-release it as some sort of "Director's Cut" version with remastered English audio and not a single upgrade for any imaginable part of the Japanese version (sound or subs).

RahXephon is full screen sure however, RahXephen: Pluralitas Concentio is widescreen being feature length film if my memory doesn't decieve me that is.

Considering it is a theatrical film, however reuses TV footage, it's probably an open-matte film, IE done at 4:3, cropped to 16:9 for theatrical showings, and then something somethingelse.

Infact, if there is a widescreen DVD release of the movie I would be interested in seeing it.

Well I dug my DVD out and it seems like a strange combo of both aspect ratios. I was only skipping through it but the begging was full screen however, the ending was in widescreen. The change happens right arround when Kunagi spoiler[finds that Babum has switched into Hellen's body and shot....urm...himself.] Confused

The widescreen aspect ratio is done as an artistic choice on the final episode and on one of the more surreal episodes earlier in the series.
