Wow that's a surprise ! I thought the latest ONA was the last entry we would have in this franchise, i hope it will be another 4 cours. Maybe we can still have hope for Buddyfight too ?

Battle Spirits is back!
Sounds like they're going in an older/edgier direction. Is that Takaya Kuroda?

Amazing timing as the English TCG just got cancelled again.

This just makes the existence of Saga even weirder. They couldn't coordinate well enough to just wait for this brand new format to start an English push?

The English market isn't really important for card game series so I don't think they should try anything at the expensive of a new anime. Japan has plenty of JP only card games that do well. I didn't even know Battle Spirits had an EN release..
I loved Shōnen Toppa Bashin back in the day and hope the new anime is good.

They don't make any cards for Buddyfight anymore though so Bushi wouldn't want to make an anime for it. There was the 10th anniversary special set but i don't know what the odds are for it to have sold well enough for Bushi to consider reviving it.

I think you misunderstood what I meant. Obviously the English market wasn't a consideration for this anime. Duel Masters and Battle Spirits have all been supported with shows that aren't even legally available on this side of the planet. The same will probably be true of this show.
However, had they timed this new anime (or Saga's English debut) better, the English TCG might not have died so quickly. No guarantee of success, of course, but a weekly anime is a better advertisement tool than the occasional paid "influencer" stream or high dollar prize pools at in-person events. This was the second time Bandai tried bringing Battle Spirits to the English market with zero anime support and it's the second time it's flopped.
