"Like playful sarcasm? That's Carmilla." - And she's voiced by Yoko Hikasa? Yes please!

For all the non revenge story leaning you give the show, I bet the plot will go out of its way to humiliate the MC's old party mates to prove how good he is.
The politics of the slums sound interesting if it doesnt boil down to mustache twirling nobles being evil.

I’ve been reading the light novels as they come out, and I wouldn’t classify this as a “kicked out of the party” series. It’s almost completely incidental to the stories, at least several volumes in. And while there’s a definite harem aspect to the character setup, it’s almost more a setting thing in the background, basically an occasional running gag plus an excuse for the main character to have some very useful allies. No doubt it helps sales, but most of the plots focus elsewhere, after the initial volume or so. So I wouldn’t really classify this as a harem series, either. It’s actually hard to pin down, and doesn’t quite fall into the common formulaic models. I’ll be curious to see if the anime simplifies things, when it launches. From the preview review, sounds like it may turn out to follow the books decently.

There have been a few works like that that feel more like a collection of tropes than a subgenre per se.
Interesting that poverty is explained by political reasons, as more recent works take the " the nobles are not all powerful" route toe explain that.

I am reading the manga and it is a quite enjoyable read so far. Although, I have to agree that there will be a confrontation between Zenos and his old party (or at least with the party's leader). But even so, the story itself is solid.
And yes, nobility is shown as more evil in this show but not nobles alone there is a healer's guild where some strange things are going on.
But if you want to read a "kicked out of the hero" story, I recently found one with an isekai setting which seems to be rather generic but has some innovations to offer. It is about a mercenary who is summoned to a special realm where time stands still. He is ordered by a god-like presence to travel through 100 worlds with the task to get kicked out of the hero's party after a certain time before he can go back to his own world. When he meets the condition he is transported back to that realm with his appearence turned back when he first was summoned to that realm and is bestowed a superb skill each time he succeeds. When he was kicked out of the hundredth hero party and was transported back to the god realm a door back to his world appears but before he can open it, god sends him a last order and a key which he can use to open the door of one of the world's he previously visited to see what the future of that world has to offer. The manga is titled Tsuihou Sareru Tabi ni Skill wo Te ni Ireta Ore ga, 100 no Isekai de 2-shuume Musou if it peaked your interest.

if its anything like "I left my A rank party to take my former students to the depths of the dungeon, then im all for it.
rather this genre over the revenge types. especially if they have the MC as so called anti hero / edgy pricks to make a series interesting only for it to fall flat on its face and in the end, makes said MV both unlikable and unable to root for (looking at you leon from worlds nortorious talker)

I read the light novel as it releases as well. While this series definitely is cliche and has your typical harem high jinks no question. It is still a fun time with some pretty good comedy mixed in for those that like the genre an maybe a few that don't. Just seeing what Carmilla gets up to next is worth the read/watch. Think of her as Mina from Drug Store in Another World with a really ornery personality.
And, although slightly off topic but If you want a series with a really interesting twist to the kicked out of the hero's party, definitely check out Yuusha Party o Oidasareta Kiyoubinbou once it airs. Everything seems like your typical kicked out of the hero's party at first but it really has a nice twist that is more than just jerk leader making stupid decisions. It does seem like that is the case at first but stick with it. Definitely worth the time if you even remotely like this type of anime. Check out the manga (although the manga hasn't made it far enough for the twist to come in yet) or web novel if you have time. The web novel is translated through arc 7.
