Oh, this documentary might be worth watching for me, and for some other anime fans that are curious about the anime industry in the US back in the pre-internet/pre-streaming days aka pre-ANN days.
I have a question: Are there any chance you can include Japanese subtitles for people living in Japan that are probably curious about the US industry? The reason I asked is because anime is now big business today compared to decades ago, and now since anime fans in Japan are probably now aware of the US market for anime, they probably want to know more about what it was like back in the old days, hence the need for Japanese subtitles for this documentary. |

I'm quite curious to watch and it's really great that these interviews are being put out there before the information is gone forever. Tim Eldred's a treasure and I know quite a bit about CPM's workings via osmosis from Justin, Neil, and Mike, but I'm not super knowledgeable about U.S. Renditions. Looking forward to them all.
Many of our pioneers have already left us, like Peter Fernandez and Toren Smith. It's nice to see some effort being put into interviewing those who helped pave the way. |

Awesome. I'm one of those wonks who is very interested in the nuts and bolts of the anime business and a historical overview of the NA side of things would be very interesting to me. Personally, I hope that John Sirabella, the founder of Media Blasters, will be one of the interviewees because I suspect that guy's a hoot.

This makes me so happy! I am glad Justin is still pursuing his dreams with Animego and putting out content interviewing people in the industry. AnnCast use to be the best place to go to listen about the inner workings of the anime field straight form the source. I always hopped we would see the return of that type of that content instead of the current format or that Crunchyrolls podcast would fill that hole. I know I will be supporting him anyway I can so we can continue to archive such amazing stories and insights that we don't otherwise get to hear about.

I’m very interested in this! I’ll definitely watch it. I always love hearing behind the scenes stuff about the industry.

Justin has stated before that the Texas-based companies are the ones he wasn't able to make time/have money for interviewing previously, and that hopefully he can get to interview those people in the future with supporter platform.
Sirabella was shown in the trailer at 0:39, so he's in it. |

The recent passing of Jan Scott-Frazier made me realized just how much I missed seeing those ANNCast interviews with industry veterans that showed up from time to time, but I guess a lot of those connections were lost once Zac left us. I know Justin really pushed for content like that back when he was on the show, so between this and the odd AWO podcast, I'm glad that approach hasn't vanished entirely.
Although I do recall J.O.D. supposedly refusing to come on the show. I guess either enough time has passed, or that all it look was to put him behind a camera. That seems somehow appropriate, given his ego. ![]() |

Sweet! I didn't know what he looks like but I'll certainly be interested in what he has to say. Media Blasters is the Keith Richards of North America anime distribution: it cannot be killed by normal means. |

He has been posting videos on his (second) YouTube channel since 2022. https://www.youtube.com/@johnsirabella9531/videos Some decent stories in there along with release & convention updates. |
