The shoujo anime I’m most excited for is Tamon’s B-Side. I love how silly it is and I’m hoping the anime does it justice
It’s great we’ve been getting more shoujosei anime but unfortunately so many end up barely animated / low production values. The only well animated series I can think of: The Yuzuki Family’s Four Sons, A Sign of Affection and My Happy Marriage.
I’m also still mad at that unnecessary Sol tease in Nina the Starry Bride
I will definitely be picking up the Honey Lemon Soda

The ones I'm the most familar since I was a kid with are Clamp's though I gotta admit I wasn't mature enough to read the ones with shonenai tones. However, now I really love Tokyo Babylon which makes me hate the studio that plagiarized clothing and had the anime cancelled.
An old shojo I watched is Banana Fish but there is nothing subtle about its homoerotic elements when played in the most disgusting fashion. Sign of Affection was pretty good but I wonder if the manga is finished. My Happy Marriage is nice when it focuses on the marriage because there are characters that are portrayed like Disney villains. Also, the soon husband has a job that really feels like another series. Wonder if supernatural powers was just an excuse to attract the male demography more.

I'm happy to see more shojo anime getting created. Yeah, I agree those are often are under-represented in the anime/manga fandom.

Its seems like Josei has declined much more than Shojou- at least formally.
Chica Umino is writing Seinen now, and things that "feel" like Josei (Skip and Loafer, say) that I do see tend to actually be Seinen. I presume this mostly just reflects changes in what magazines carry those types of stories; Josei/Seinen tend to be less clearly defined as a set of tropes/genres than Shojou/Shounen.

I'm not holding my breath, but I wish they'd adapt Colette wa Shinu Koto ni Shita

It's been noted that most anime producers don't read shoujo or josei, so it's no surprise that not many get adapted, but it really would be nice if more got the same kind of care Honey Lemon Soda is getting, and also weren't locked to single cours. Anime as a whole would be so much better if we got adaptations at least on the same level as Yona of the Dawn.
Maybe the real solution is to just destroy the entirety of Jump…

For the record, "shounen-ai" doesn't exist; the term is a reverse translation of "boys love", and carries pedophilic connotations that BL would lack to a Japanese speaker.

Not as far as I know - it was supposed to be released in the latter half of 2024, but it doesn't seem to have been.

I'm excited that Hakuensha is giving so many of their shoujo titles anime so consecutively and close together. I'm sure part of it is for their big anniversary (HanaYume's, specifically), but it's great to see. Tamon and HanaKimi are both titles to look forward to, and I'm curious if the Dark History novel or manga will inspire the anime more. (Looks like the manga from recent tweets, but that could change.)
Ikoku Nikki is what I'm most looking forward to though, because josei fans are even more starved than shoujo fans are. (I hope we finally get the Mystery Iu anime and something else that's charted!)

Oh, that's interesting- I had no idea that was published under "seinin," I assumed it was shojo or josei and was wondering why it wasn't mentioned here. God I love Skip and Loafer. Either way, happy for more shojo. I'll have to check some of these out!

Any thoughts on the Fruits Basket reboot having an influence on the uptick? I remember it was very well received.

I'm also looking forward to seeing Tamon animated! Please, please let it have decent animation at least!
HanaKimi will be interesting too. It didn't age perfectly but was still a lot of fun.
Btw why is Hanako-kun mentioned here when it's not a shoujo or josei?
It does stuff that makes it easy to like for a female audience but it is still a shonen.
I think My Happy Marriage and 7th Time Loop are worth a mention as well.
I also really liked All Guys Mixer.

Can hardly call it a renaissance when you're having to lump josei in with shojo as "things targeted at women in general" because of how little is being adapted.

Thanks for letting me know! I definitely want to watch it, the manhwa is one of my favorite GNs.
Also, seeing Pretty Cure get so much licensing on Crunchyroll makes me hopeful for shoujo. I think it's only a matter of time until all the mainline series are on there. Hopefully we'll get all the Pretty Series too.
