Feels kinda thematic how you described the Shinji burger as a disappointment.

I was going to suggest a Naoko Akagi burger having an overcooked, dried out patty but realized that would be mean spirited.
Pen Pen fish sandwich should be an item.

See, what I would have done is leaned a little bit more into the theming. To get the Eva stuff, you need to order the Evangelion Combo, which consists of:
ITEM 1
Shinji Burger is a Double Big Mac with no meat. There is nothing more depressing than a burger with no meat.
ITEM 2
Rei is a potato. So the side is mash potatoes or just regular fries. Or an uncut potato.
ITEM 3
Orange Juice for your drink.
These are free ideas, McD's. Feel free to steal them.

While we see ANN have McDonald's "EVA"-inspired food and how it rates,I have my own views. One is it's a shame they didn't do anything special with their french fries. It would have been interesting to see what they did with those. Two is I can't imagine this sort of thing come stateside. I don't know how they'd be received, but I doubt that we in America are going to get this sort of thing and if they did,it would be utterly surprising if that happened.

If that’s the case why are impossible burgers a thing?

The Rei burger sounds good to me, wouldn't mind giving it a try if they still have it next time I'm there.
Is that a different bun than their other burgers? Or is it just a different look?
