Reminds me of how their way to handle modders in FF14 is to 'ask them nicely to not do it'.

I'm guessing they know well enough what is coming, and that this will do nothing. However, now they can tell anybody who asks that they don't condone certain types of mods and it's just those pesky modders not listening.

And then right after say they have no actual method to detect if you're using mods or not so the only way you can get caught is to openly admit to it or post screenshots and videos of you incriminating yourself. In other words they don't actually care but have to act like they do.

Oh I'm sure they care but to do anything about it would require them investing money into something similar to Blizzards Warden and Square will do anything to not invest more than they need to into that game.
