I just might watch this -- if only to compare my opinion with that of Richard Eisenbeis's.

I did kind of wonder if the story would be able to nail this kind of premise...seems like they definitely struggle with it.

The creator of this film has a lot of nice shorts on YouTube involving ghosts, haunted dolls, a (now) undead miko, a clumsy ninja-apprentice. I was disappointed that he seems to have taken the magical girlfriend route for his first long-form endeavor.

I'm kind of surprised the Animation rating was merely given a C. Sure the models are clunky, but the actual animation (motion) itself is the reason why the whole thing got a movie in the first place. The artist's short animated segments boast such fluidity and natural movements with thoughtful weight and grace that could put the Trigun remake to shame.
(I don't care what anyone else thinks, Trigun's animation was comically out of place, and felt like his feet never touch the ground). |

Wasn't this movie essentially made just by one guy? The review seems a little harsh in context.

He had a team, though not a big one. Agreed with Ruri Lee that the animation score should be higher. It does have some strange moments but it also is full of personality, and the action scenes are incredibly done. I wouldn't say it deserves an A but I'd personally give it a B. |
