I remember James being excited about this show when it premiered, he was the only critic who felt rather positive about this show. I remember his disappointment in not getting it for seasonal reviews. Would James still be excited about this news?

It's turned out to be one of the season's stronger shows, so I'm hoping he or someone else will do a summative review.
Haven't watched the final episode yet, but I'm glad to hear it's getting a second season. There's way too much story here to limit it to just one season.

Yes, there is a lot to do with this series, especially since they only adapt the first volume (I was really hoping for a 1-vol adaptation in this specific case) and the well-above avarage quality of animation was a pleasant surprise.

This show has been one of the stronger shows this season and also has had pretty nice production values as well.

I'm on the fence about this. I started watching because I was interested in Soujiro, who has barely been in it. The last few episodes have picked up a bit, but if they don't kill off Yuno soon, and that seems unlikely since she's apparently supposed to sort of be the "normal person" pov, I don't think I can continue. She's quickly risen to my #3 most hated female character in anime, and she's only been in what, 3? 4? episodes. That's quite a feat!

This show got awesome in the last half. That final plot twist should make for a great second season.

I was very hyped after watching the first episode of this series: Willow Sword looked awesome, the girl's hate of strong people seemed like a fun base for a good story, and all the best anime have tournaments. Then they had another 5 episodes of formulatic, boring character introductions which I gritted my teeth through because every one of them looked strong enough to be a main character, so awesome tournament coming up, right? Right? Nope. 3 more episodes of maneuvering characters with a few lame encounters thrown in. And then a battle where most of the characters one would like to see fight are killed. Now there are 4 left. 4 characters makes for a VERY lame tournament. So what does that mean for season 2? Very lame tournament or... even more character introduction episodes??? Unbelieveable. The characters we already had were good, why get rid of them after spending a whole episode introducing them, and then having them in super short lame fights? Just to bring in a new batch later?? Unforgivable. This is the worst writing I've seen since Chainsaw Man's mistreatment of Ghost and forgetting how a chainsaw works. The show looked pretty, but to be honest the animation was very sparing, so looking kinda pretty is all it has. I will not be watching season 2, and I cannot believe I'm the only one here mad at season 1 for wasting the massive potential this show started with.
