Feel like we're missing something here. The article starts by asking about how light novel writers can get noticed by editors, but then the tweet is about an editor who is specifically wanting to avoid light novels.
Discrepancy aside, the point just seems to boil down to "a story's quality is more important than its popularity," which any editor in the world would say—but isn't actually reflective of the reality of publishing at large (especially for light novels in Japan).

Only tip I could see for writers was to quit it with the long titles. Definitely agree with that.
Thought the two different translations for the tweet bullet points was strange. It was an interesting article, though. You would expect rankings to be a big deal since I'm guessing they're related to reader reviews? And what exactly does deep diving into searches even mean? Like going to other websites to see if people are talking about the LN?

I have fond memories of the Holmes of Kyoto anime.

Light novel / web novel title actually doubles down as synopsis and that's why it's long. Issue of overused tropes (or in more harsher words, 'un'creativity) and tight competition demands this or else their works would go unnoticed.
Ranking can based either from total rating given or page access count.
I guess doing deep-diving means searching extensively based on advance criteria that you set. For example,
- setting the genre
- including / excluding tags
- setting the word counts and comparing it to chapters released
- checking title and synopsis to gauge their writing style
- checking comments and reviews if there is any
- checking author page to see their other works to gauge their credibility
Sometimes you may find hidden gem unluckily buried with small rating point, few comments, or lack of exposure.
