Ironic, because Tokyo Drift director Justin Lin, who works with Kang, told me he was inspired by Initial D.

Bro, they already made a live action Initial D. It was a serviceable if not amazing adaptation.
They did ruin Itsuki and make Bunta an abuser, though...
If they make another live action movie using practical effects, they're doing to have to destroy another dozen or two of all the JDM cars we love, so.... Could you just not?

This is because Fast X flopped at the box office and they need a new street car movie, isn’t it? I mean it could work, but I feel like I don’t trust them to do it right.

I think that his connection to the F&F films will be an inevitable and incorrect comparison to this project since Initial D is completely different. I doubt that it'll have a eurobeat soundtrack, though.

If nothing else, he needs to make sure the soundtrack is on point and focus on Eurobeat.
