I am surprised by this pickup becase Sentai/HIDIVE rarely licenses magical academy shows. I am content with HIDIVE's current lineup, but I hope they pick up You Were Experienced, I Was Not and one or two more shows.

they dont even come close to what they use to be and a lot of anime removed. How they stay running with most of the crap anime they pick up is beyond me. i May subscribe once a yr to watch stuff. unlike crunchyroll who plays so much, hidive should just give up. loved it best when it was actually picking stuff. its not worth it to keep a monthly subscription. if they cant afford to pick anime to rival crunchyroll they just need to shut down

Actually leaked about a month ago that HiDive had You Were Experienced. I imagine it'll get announced any day now. I just wish they could get themselves together where it comes to their dub output. It's been rather bad lately.

It's funny, I knew they had this one because the hidive account on twitter (X, whatever) was following the JP account of this anime.. and they only follow what they stream lol

Even tweeted about it.

It's a pretty good get, can't go wrong with Passione.

And yeah, I also hope they have that one.

Didn't see that leak, hope it's legit.

On the dub part it often comes down to stream numbers/limited man power.

This season they already announced a few that got potential to be popular, aside from eminence in shadow s2 (that is their first simuldub), all the other 3 announced got potential as well (make it 4 if they truly got the experience one). Let's see how they handle that.

Summer wise, 3 series are now inside the top 30 all time on Hidive (from the stuff available here), 1) Dreaming Boy 2) Last boss 3) Helck, on this order, so these are the likely ones to be dubbed.

I'm glad Sentai/HiDive got this, considering they also own the anime adaptation of this author's earlier series too, lol.
I look forward to checking out this one.

Dude, calm down. You're really wishing for them to go under without even considering what would happen to their translators and dub VAs if they did? Please…

And for the record, if you check some of their news articles on their website, you can clearly see that they're trying their best to get some of their old shows back. Not to mention with some recent hits of theirs like Call of the Night, Made in Abyss, Oshi no Ko, The Eminence in Shadow, etc, it's really not surprising that they're still around. Even the most generic fantasy shows and isekais you can think of can draw in more viewers than you think.

To add to the defense hell they are even owned by AMC now. If anything depending how things go they might even get more shows. Monopolies are no fun. While HiDive does seem to pick the low hanging fruit (Looking at you Redo the Healer) at least they try to keep things as uncut as possible and if you want you can choose the Broadcast version most of the time. The Urusei Yatsuri remake is so far my anime of the year and I can only watch it there. As an added bonus I can watch a bunch of classic stuff (some with dubs!) and OVA's! Like RetroCrush HiDive has almost a niche thing of underated or surprise hits in addition to hot trash. But even hot trash can be good like Killing Bites.
