This should be simulcast but I get the feeling I’m gonna have to watch it the same way I watch the current anime.

Now THIS is unexpected. I predict the mons themselves will be much less of a focus this time around (not actual characters), though I can always be surprised.

Did not expect this, but at the same time I expected it because current times due to the IP doing so much.

Quote:
Rio Uchida as Midori (a Japanese wordplay on "green")

What is there to wordplay? Midori means Green in Japanese.

Quote:
Toshiro Yanagiba in the voice acting role Okidō (a wordplay on the Japanese name for Professor Oak)

Why explain Midori, but not Okido? That's inconsistent. Okido is Orchid.

The character's name (美登里) uses different kanji characters than the Japanese word for green (緑), but they are pronounced the same,

The character's name (大木戸) is not the same as the Japanese word for orchid (オーキッド), but is pronounced the same as Professor Oak's Japanese name (オーキド).

Isn't this the one that's just about a girl who grew up playing Pokemon and how it meant a lot to her? Not actually set in the world of Pokemon, unless she gets isekai'd halfway through.

It would be nice if this got picked up for streaming in the US but I wouldn't count on it.

You know what, I agree with both of you. Ever since simulcast (& simul-dub) has become a huge thing for anime and streaming in general, only one franchise didn't get in on the action and that would be Pokemon. Seriously, does The Pokemon Company and Nintendo aren't aware of what's going on in the anime community??? Do they not know that the demographic that are watching the latest Pokemon anime that is available right now are probably the same demographic that are watching Naruto, One Piece, and other anime simulcast elsewhere?

Does TPC USA & Nintendo USA not aware that Pretty Cure is also being simulcast too? Are they not aware that Digimon Adventure 2020 (the reboot of the 1999 version) have been shown on Crunchyroll with English subtitles (2 years before an English dub was announced)? And I want to remind people and the Pokemon USA/Nintendo USA that even the 1999 Digimon series has gotten a subtitled release on blu-ray in the US?

How the hell is it that Pokemon Company USA/Nintendo USA isn't jumping on the simulcast bandwagon, and also not offering a uncut subtitled Pokemon for people that want to watch it? There's a Reddit topic (from 5 years ago) that explored the benefits of having a Pokemon episode simulcast and I agreed with this given the age and ubiquities of anime simulcast that are coming out these days.

I mean there's even enough studies out there proving that subtitles is useful for kids:

From 2018: Why switching on the subtitles is a sure-fire way to improve child literacy

Why children should be watching TV with the subtitles on

The Guardian article: Campaigners call on broadcasters and streamers to seize the moment to switch on subtitles for kids’ programming

I'll use my niece as an example, when my niece was 8 years old, I put on Miyazaki's Nausicaa for her in Japanese with English subtitles, and she had no problem reading subtitles and she watched the film with no issues. I believe there are young kids out there with above-average reading skill that could benefit a lot with subtitled kids anime, and having Pokemon with Japanese audio & English subtitles would highly benefits those demographic of kids with highly proficient above-average level reading skills.

When I saw "live-action Pokemon" in the headline this is... not exactly what I imagined.
