Good timing. I've been running out of LN installments before running out of week for a couple of weeks now. Supplementing with various volumes keeps me sane, but I need moar!

Be nice if J-Novel could license less cancelled stuff.

Is there a literary equivalent to shovelware? Because it feels like that's what J-Novel Club has become a home of.

As much as I love the anime version, I have yet to get around to reading the source novels for Ascendance of a Bookworm. May just snatch up the audiobooks instead as they come out.

Contest for OELNs sounds interesting, and the prizes are nothing to scoff at, but I’d want to take a long look at the fine print first. For example, do the winners get any royalties when their stuff is published, or does J-Novel Club keep it all (or is the prize money actually an advance on royalties)?

J-Novel Club has generally conducted itself honorably over the years, but Tokyopop really poisoned the water for everyone with their ruthless exploitation of OEL creators.

J-Novel is owned by Kadokawa, so they're obligated to translate all of the isekai novels thrown at them. That said, J-Novel still manages to find time to do more notable releases like Slayers or blatant passion projects like Invaders of the Rokkenjima, so I can't hate them. I've heard interesting things about Rokkenjima so I plan to reach it eventually, but the novel count is ... intimidating to say the least.
I'm extremely hyped for Knight's and Magic, but it's definitely not for everyone. My guess it was pretty difficult for J-novel to get due to it being owned by Square Enix. I definitely appreciate that it's getting an English release.

The only way I "read" fiction is via audiobooks while I'm doing other stuff, so I'm happy to hear about Ascendance of a bookworm audiobooks (though having audiobooks for that particular title seems a trifle ironic).

Knight's & Magic is one of the LNs I wanted to read. Please tell me it's still on going (or at least at proper ending; not axed/cancelled) and would be released in physical version.

It's listed as on hiatus at 11 volumes. The last light novel volume came out in Japan in 2021, it's not that long yet so with luck the author may yet come back to it...

true. while i would have also liked to have seen the manga version get released as well, those that enjoyed watching the anime version of knights and magic should be glad the source materials get licensed in the US at all considering that as an isekai series, its nowhere as popular as the big shots like jobless reincarnation or eminence in shadow.
