For me, it's a little too early to rank the OPs and EDs; I'd rather wait a few more weeks and see which ones grow on me. That said, my favorites this early in the season are:

OP
1. "Idol" (アイドル) — Oshi no Ko
2. "I Wish" — KamiKatsu
3. "Shinda!" (死んだ!) — Hero Is Dead

ED
1. "Kamihitoe" (紙一重) — Hell's Paradise
2. "Kokorone" (ココロネ) — My Clueless First Friend
3. "Yume ga Samete mo" (夢が覚めても) — Yuri Is My Job

I'll probably change my mind by the end of the season.

I am really digging the folksy, laid-back EDs this season! I think it started for me with "Odoru Hikari" (おどる ひかり) by Cody Lee from Otaku Elf, then "Kimi ga Iru kara" (君がいるから) by Sarasa Kadowaki from Birdie Wing season 2. What really drove it home was "Lapse" by Homecomings from Insomniacs After School. What a great song!

The best ending of the season is Mekyou Platonic by Valis of my one-hit kill sister, end of discussion.

YAOSOBI has to be one of the best female bands I've ever heard. Whenever I find them in an anime, I listen to their themes a lot. Probably the first one were the two themes from Beastars season 2.

As for my picks: the ED of G-Witch is definitely something, especially if someone knows the context behind it; it's powerful stuff. OP-wise, Skip and Loafer's is pretty catchy, it's still going in my head.

Have to agree it's been a pretty fun season for OPs, no matter your metric.

For visuals we got Mahou Shojo Magical Destroyers & Vinland Saga, while song-wise I'm really digging Loving Yamada at Lvl999 (probably the catchiest song of the entire bunch), Ancient Magus Bride, Mix, and Sacrificial Princess & the King of Beasts. And as far as OPs that nail both aspects, I have to shout out Heavenly Delusion, Oshi no Ko, Ranking of Kings, & Skip & Loafer. That's like ten right off the bat.

EDs a little less so. Gundam Witch From Mercury is certainly in a league of its own this season in terms of emotional impact, but Heavenly Delusion and My Clueless First Friend have some nice offerings.

Glad someone mentioned The Legendary Hero is Dead OP. Had a feeling it was going to get skipped given the source of a fairly ecchi anime, but I think the song is a lot of fun. Though as a manga reader, I should say while there is a lot of echhii, the story is a lot of action comedy moments and is surprisingly heartfelt at points. If you like Konosuba, you might will dig it.

The OP and ED for Clueless Friend are ones I've been enjoying a lot.

My One-Hit Kill Sister has a fantastic ED. It almost makes you forget you're watching a schlocky isekai incest comedy. Almost.

It definitely makes me curious as to what the opening sequence for the [Oshi no Ko] anime proper is going to look like.

Since this column ended up getting posted after episode 2 aired (awkward timing for editing and scheduling but them's the breaks I guess), y'all have any opinions on said opening sequence now? Or the ED?

There are a lot of good songs this season!
My favorite OPs are the ones for Oshi no Ko, Yuusha ga Shinda!, Edomae Elf and Tengoku Daimakyou. My underrated pick is Soul Galaxy by BRADIO, the new opening for Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush. The visuals aren't anything special but the song is catchy and it's BRADIO so I thought more people would talk about it. It's true that not a lot of people still watch Yu-Gi-Oh! though so I'm not that surprised.
As for EDs, I've only watched the ones for the shows I'm watching so my favorites are the ones for Dr.Stone season 3 and Oshi no Ko.

I agree on the OP of Otaku Elf never leaving your mind again after hearing it. The last time an OP stuck with me like that is with Paripi Koumei.

I haven't seen the anime mentioned except Ancient Magus Bride and Skip and Loafer. Man though, Skip and Loafer is a typical high school romance in that very little action happens. Most of the time, they don't bother giving these beautiful animation, since what is there to show off? Yet so far the animation in Skip and Loafer is quite beautiful. The dancing in the opening? Superb. A world of difference between this and last season's Endo and Kobayashi, which I also liked, but wow the animation was bad. When they danced in the opening, they showed them spinning in a circle, shot from above, with only their legs moving. Yeesh.

I was not ready for how catchy Otaku Elf's OP was gonna be. But then, I guess that entire show has been something of a pleasant surprise.
