(Yes, I'm being sarcastic, I've been saying since day one that he wouldn't be booted from his franchise roles and people being overdramatic about it were just rolling the outrage-clickbait ball, making things worse. Money > outrage over a private thing that is neither criminal, nor is anyone's business other than him and his wife's. Sakurai Takahiro was, at one point, sent to the doghouse over something actually legally problematic, and look where he is now.)

What did Sakurai did?? o_o I don't remember anything about that. (He's one of my fav seiyuus nowadays, if he did something illegal I want to know x'D)

He also violated his NDA by leaking songs he sang for upcoming anime to his mistress who then spoke about it on social media. I think that was the bigger issue.

Well yes, it's been given the kurorekishi treatment, but also it was long ago that most younger fans are probably too young to have even been aware of anime at the time... similarly how nobody's going to remember this thing with Suzuki in 5 years, let alone more.
So, back in 2006, Sakurai was part of a theater troupe, I don't quite remember in what role but in any case, he was in a decision-making position. They wanted to stage a play by Mitani Kouki, but they had no permission to do so, so they basically plagiarized it. Word got out, there was the usual apology tour, Sakurai was pulled from radio shows and events, recast in anime, etc., people were like "OH NO HIS CAREER IS OVER!" And then he came back after like three months or so, and, well, look at him now.
This thing with seiyuu (actors, etc.) being pulled from their shows/other appearances when something scandalous happens, it's the usual way these events are handled (unless there's more seriously illegal things involved). Remember Terashima Takuma and Kanemoto Hisako and that stupid Kokoro Connect scandal where people were making so much noise about them being utter dickwinkle bullies, even though the whole thing was very obviously just a comedy skit that had been a bad idea from the start, and predictably went wrong due to incompetent writing, direction and acting. People were being all "WELL THEIR CAREERS ARE OVER, NOBODY'S GONNA WORK WITH THEM ANYMORE" and then hey, what do you know, after some months they came back and their careers are going on like nothing happened, they got their franchise roles back, etc. and the scandal is not mentioned ever again anymore.
And so on and so on. That's why I said, in a previous thread, that what's happening with Suzuki is just the usual routine of "apologize profusely, disappear for some months, and then come back and let's not speak of this ever again" that happens every time a seiyuu/actor/etc. does something bad (unless it's actually criminal, or so terrible it's unforgivable).

Well, Oldcodex is officially disbanded as of May 31, 2022. The official statement from their website can be found here. I guess he will focus solely on his voice acting career from now on.

But there was bullying involved? It doesn't matter that it was supposed to be a "haha funny joke." It was still in poor taste when they were not only setting up Mitsuhiro Ichiki to be publicly humiliated (even if they didn't think they were) but Terashima even made that comment where he was like, "I didn't realize seeing the moment when someone gets defeated could be so beautiful," Even with the context, it just doesn't seem appropriate because it doesn't change the fact that the prank was power harassment that was set up as a joke. Tomokazu Sugita seemed really grave when Mitsuhiro Ichiki told him about the incident on his radio show and he later ignored Takuma Terashima at public events too.
Pranks may not be illegal (same as cheating) but iIf the target becomes humiliated and hurt, it still makes the aggressor an asshole.

And that is why I said it was a bad idea that shouldn't have been approved in the first place, but it was and they went ahead with it, and that's not anything that Terashima and Kanemoto had any say over.

See, this is the thing - people taking these at face value, without even realizing how ridiculously impossible it is for Terashima (or anyone) to make such a comment just like that! Like, why would anyone in this situation say something that so obviously paints them like a total dickweed? Especially in a place like Japan, in this industry, where one's image is so important - especially for someone like Terashima who was promoting his solo album at the time (Kanemoto IIRC also had some promotion going on). Like, if this had been real, their careers would have been over. It was clearly scripted, either the line itself or the two seiyuu saying something over the top. it was clearly a comedy skit, and yes, it went down like a lead balloon because it was a bad idea that even most comedians would have bombed with, let alone two people who are seiyuu and not comedians - but if this proves anything it is that you don't get seiyuu to do edgy comedy, and not those seiyuu being actually terrible people.

That happened once, I think - and in any case, it hasn't happened since then. In fact, as far as I'm aware nobody has had any issues working with, appearing with, talking to, and so on, with either Terashima or Kanemoto. Which, again, proves my point.

Why are you going so far to defend their actions and Terashima's comment? Even if it was scripted, it was still a terrible thing to say. And they were perfectly fine with humiliating Ichiki (even laughing about it) until they saw the backlash. Tomokazu Sugita also unfollowed Terashima on Twitter after learning about the incident and hasn't followed him back since.
To me, incidents like these (and Suzuki's cheating scandal) may not be illegal and sometimes may take place outside of their work, but it does kind of show how people treat their colleagues. I'm not much of a voice actor fan but I imagine this would be a make or break decision for some hardcore fans.
