Because Armored Core requires a crazier grip than the Monster Hunter claw.

That was just Armored Core V & Verdict Day, apparently, which ironically enough was made while Miyazaki was busy making Demon's Souls & Dark Souls, so I'm going to guess that the grip will be a thing of the past for VI.

Anyway, that IGN interview really was proof positive of just how pigeonholed FromSoftware had made themselves over the past decade, as that interviewer was just insistent on finding some way to make Miyazaki & director Masaru Yamamura admit that there's some Soulsbourne influence in the game, only for the closest thing being Yamamura essentially saying "Well, I guess the boss fights might be similar to what was in Sekiro... but that's mainly because they were already like that in prior AC games". I fully expect AC VI to get roasted in reviews once it comes out for not being like a Soulsbourne game. I'm not saying that they'll be negative reviews, but I am expecting "This is missing the open-world feel of a Souls game" to be a common complaint from the major press.

Some people are also trying to complain about older AC games not being readily available for purchase today, & especially since VI's announcement has already drastically raised the used prices for prior entries over on eBay, but if you have a PS3 or Vita you can still purchase AC1 (PS1), AC3 Portable (PSP), AC: Silent Line Portable (PSP), AC: Last Raven Portable (PSP), & AC: Verdict Day (PS3) digitally for what are now great prices ($6-$20), and Verdict Day is still available digitally on Xbox 360 for $20, as well.

My biggest hope for the BN collection is to at least keep the PileDriver program advance intact. Somehow I almost always hit my friend with the full blast when we net battled.

Oh, there will totally be "Shin Megami Tensei feels like Persona but without the heart" reviews. I'm coping in advance.

Thanks for sharing these! Definitely a wealth of resources for anyone interested in playing AC.

Congrats on your birthday. That One Piece event sounds like it must've been a blast.
Hopefully that model kit joint isn't too hard to repair.

I'm incredibly excited to see Armored Core coming back, especially since the online focus in V and Verdict Day made them kind of cumbersome to play after a while (Verdict Day had more single-player content, but it still forced you to go through a lot of setup for the online modes before you could start doing anything). AC4 and For Answer were my introduction to FromSoft (alongside ACE 2), and they're still some of my favorite games of that generation.
That said, I'll probably have to wait a while to get hardware that can actually play AC6.

The Japanese release of Mahoutsukai no yoru/Witch on the Holy Night came out last week. I haven't had much time with it yet, but it seems like a great way to experience the story. I hope I'll have time to check the English and Chinese language options soon (especially the Chinese, since I'm extremely curious how it handles the terminology). The NA release in January looks like it's going to be the exact same game card in a different box, so there's probably no reason for US people to import unless, like me, you can't wait and really want a Japanese copy of the artbook.
On a related note, while I'm excited for the recent Melty Blood additions (and I can't believe French Bread is still adding free content; any other fighting game would have charged for multiple season passes), I would really love to see Touko join the roster at some point.

(Though, do we really want another Overwatch when we still don't know if people are still stealing breast milk over at Blizzard HQ?)

Not that the shady stuff that’s been happening behind the scenes at Activision-Blizzard should be dismissed.

But Overwatch has problems specifically with the 2nd game that needs fixing (some of which can’t be fixed sadly) before they consider making another game joking or otherwise.

What really deserves more attention is the lovely story of "Flute Guy," Pedro Esutache.

I've only really been following the Game Awards via osmosis this year, so when I saw that video thumbnail in the article I did a double-take and immediately scrolled through my YouTube history to confirm it was the same flutist I watched perform in a recording of a 2018 Hans Zimmer concert livestream.
I think I'll tune in next year just to catch the orchestra's performance. Very Happy

-Naka: I think it's safe to say that Naka's reputation has been thoroughly, irreparably tarnished. The dude already had a long history of being an abusive boss, so now he can add white collar crime. He's done.

-MS and ActiBlizz: What really gets me about this is even discounting Sony's pathetic, whiny arguments that MS is genuinely cannot be trusted with this deal. And you can tell they know that with how much Phil Spencer and other execs keep trying to work the crowd and act like they're humble, benevolent monopolists. Uh-uh, you guys do not deserve the benefit of the doubt, you are nobody's friends.

-Flute Guy: I am ashamed I did not know more about this man considering he's something of an industry legend having worked on tons of movie scores, including being one of Hans Zimmer's go-to collaborators. The orchestra is one of the few bright spots in the Game Awards

-Armored Core: I am so glad FromSoft has made it clear "No, we're doing fast-paced mecha action, not Dark Souls." Heck, I want more of their forgotten stuff; let's get an Echo Night 4.

As for other stuff, the new Hellboy game looks cool, and what a surprise that we're getting a Bayonetta prequel.

If you have PS VR there is Déraciné from 2018, literally the only non-Soulsbourne game FromSoft made between AC: Verdict Day & AC VI, which Miyazaki said was directly inspired by Echo Night.

Yeah, the Bayonetta prequel looks so cool! I never figured we'd get a game about Cereza, let alone one that's so thoroughly different from the main Bayonetta games. But I'm all for it and its lovely artistic direction! Apologies for not mentioning it: between needing to focus on the One Piece preview and my PC crapping out on Wednesday, my mind was all over this week.

Last I checked, 4 and FA were pretty beloved. In fact, FA still has a decently active PvP scene for a 10+ year old game.

Now, V and Verdict Day are all but dead because Bandai America handled them like ass (Verdict Day never got all the patches and updates for the multiplayer iirc)

I played some of the original Armored Core for PS1 just a week ago after the announcement, and even back then it was still a relatively fast-paced game. Sure, my default starter AC wasn't zipping around like it was Zone of the Enders, but it was still about fast-paced combat, boosting around to avoid getting hit constantly, and the like.

Forgot about that, but I'm not interested in VR. Still, all for FromSoft finally breaking out from Dark Souls after spending more than a decade on it.

No problem, a lot of stuff happened over the past week. Though, this also makes me go back to that recent Kamiya interview talking about a fourth game and it was this all along. Also interesting how they hid it in Bayonetta 3.
