Not odd, considering she's retiring from the industry, and it's not just the break.
Most likely she got severe health issues, considering it comes out of the blue.

That was unexpected and sad. I was hoping to hear her voice again in the upcoming Girls Frontline 2 Exilium.

One of many possible reasons, we’ll never know.
She might have had obligations to her family, might have found the limelight didn’t suit her as well as she expected, etc etc (her agency in particular is strict about social media, so she hasn’t been that public). You can never say “most likely” in these situations.
I was personally really pushing for her and recommended her for casting in a number of situations. Shame.

But if she got "severe health issues," wouldn't it make more sense for her to retire now, instead of in a month's time? No one schedules health issues.

Severe health issues are not "most likely" at all. It's way more likely that she's getting married and/or decided on a career change for whatever reason, and is getting out of the industry. In any case, she clearly doesn't want people to know, so.

is it just my impression or most of the young women who try to do voice-over in Japan these days are kinda forced to become idols as well,with the usual social restrictions that come with the job?
so many young female VAs have suddenly retired over this decade in particular,that it feels like they come thinking they will just do voices for anime,games and dubbing foreign live-action and cartoons,but then the industry impose the roles of idols on them because they are young and pretty,kinda restricting the kind of roles they could get because they are forced to appeal to the otaku audience obsessed with idols.
