Loooove this~ My goodness the animations and style of Guilty Gear has always been pretty damn top notch, but I love the look this game has. And the music is also really great~!
I'm also especially happy with the update they've given in Bridget's story. But seriously, the designs and animations are So good~ |

I'm surprised it took so long. She was always the most requested character in Japan (Baiken was for overseas players). But better late than never

This might get me back into Strive. I always said I'd go back if they added Bridget or Jam.
I thought we all agreed it doesn't count if it's Bridget. |

With how the Uchikoshi thread went, I'm not getting my hopes up for things being any better here

Oh hey another transphobe that doesn't know shit about Gear! Way to spoiler your misgendering as if that makes it ok. There are no good/bad endings in Strive. There is simply their arcade route endings. In which Bridget confirms she is a girl. There is no ending in which this is refuted. The people making the game are very aware of the past of their own character and how that past contributed to this conclusion. You might want to do some research before parroting whatever transphobic nonsense you picked up that you confidently reposted here. Wasn't Bridget basically groomed? I'm not sure how it's something to celebrate in this case.

It should go without saying I have no problems with inclusion of trans rep, I love what they did with Testament and they're cool as hell, I just feel that Bridget is an easy and convenient choice because they're already effeminate with virtually zero physical masculine traits. Going with "the pretty one" just feels a little lazy. Imagine if it was someone with a more masculine or unconventional build, like Sin or Axl. Would it have felt a little more abrupt? Yes. Would it have been way more interesting? Also yes. Or you can craft a new character from scratch. I won't go as far as to say it's tokenism, because the devs do clearly care, I just think Bridget is a bit of a disappointing choice. And yes, I do think I would've preferred them as a non-masculine man, because I think the only other one in my mind was...Zappa? Maybe? Although honestly he's kind of a stretch.
I realize Guilty Gear is far from the only one that does this, but it is a recurring issue. I wish we had more examples like Ladiva from Granblue. Ultimately, I'm neutral. I just hope my opinions aren't lumped in with the transphobes.
That's a bit of a misconception. As I understand it, Bridget was raised as a girl by their parents because Brudget would likely be killed by their superstitious villagers if not. It was objectively for their own protection. Bridget understands this and never resented them for it. Bridget being trans is slightly messy because of lore, but it's not nearly as bad as some think. The grooming accusations are silly |

Awesome news! It feels like I'm back in the early 2000s again. The nostalgia is so strong.
Only if you're bad at the game. The flawless run ending is different. Between this and them casting a female VA for the English voice I think Daisuke's having a bit of troll playing both sides against one another since he knows this is an issue in America and people will give him all the free marketing by doing so. I haven't seen any of this discourse on the JP side of the fandom, just more glorious Sister Otoko art which I'm always here for. |

There is no "flawless ending" where Bridget doesn't call herself a woman. Nobody has produced any evidence of such an ending outside of bad-faith bellyaching. There is no conspiracy forcing trans-rep in Guilty Gear. Ishiwatari isn't "trolling" people by writing a story where a character comes to term with ther identity on their terms (for Christ's sake, the lyrics to The Town Inside Me are all about Bridget deciding to live by their own values). Bridget wasn't groomed, that's not what that [expletive] word means. We literally just had all of these bad-faith transphobic arguments in the Uchikoshi thread, many from the same people even. People are gay in Guilty Gear. Testament is non-binary, Bridget is a trans-woman, Lily Hoshikawa is trans. Ishiwatari could sit people down and say, "I decided to make Bridget trans" and you'd have people insisting that's not what he really meant. We see the bad faith arguments for what they are and we're gonna call that shit out when we see it. |

Spoilers: https://youtu.be/9W5ezv_xxOk?t=413 FWIW, Bridget's Japanese bio says "お嬢ちゃんとして育てられた、男の子である" so.. *shrug* Take it as you will. Lily is described the same way in JP Zombieland material. The same thing happened with Yamato where pretty much every Japanese media and source refers to her as a woman but I see English people get angry if you dont call her a man. In the end people will believe what they want no matter what and trying to educate them is futile no matter what side of the aisle you're on. Personal politics are too strong so it might jus tbe best to let people believe what they want. Better to save the energy. |

1. The video you posted doesn't contradict the ending.
2. The bio is the character at the start of the game. The English translation avoids pronouns intentionally. The ending where she declares herself a girl is basically a spoiler so of course it's not indicated in the introductory material. 3. The creators of Zombieland Saga have likewise confirmed she's trans. Last edited by ANN_Lynzee on Tue Aug 09, 2022 6:31 pm; edited 1 time in total |

I haven't been active on these forums for quite a while (was going through some stuff, long and off topic story) but I've been wanting to start becoming more active again for a while now, and I know the perfect thread to do so, haha.
Since some have brought it up, dialogue in arcade mode can change depending on stuff and full flawless runs you get an extra boss stage it seems, but the videos of everything, every possibly dialogue route, can be all seen online. And everything, including the extra boss on flawless runs, supports Bridget being a girl. Because even when Goldlewis isn't around to call Bridget a cowgirl, she still talks about how she wishes she could be like Ky and have his strength when he "went public" about stuff, and after beating him and watching him she wants to live as her true self... what exactly do you think she's talking about there? At the end of the day, this isn't about honest misconceptions, or not understanding blatant implication so obvious it could have been written by the "subtlety is for cowards" guy, or even about nuanced discussion about how gender can be complicated. This is about a story about a character whose entire arc in the game is wanting to live as her true self and be true to herself but who is scared to do so, who laments that she always felt as long as she kept quiet it would work out but it hurts too much, who is inspired and encouraged to live as her true self, and in one ending is called a cowgirl and after it is "corrected" explicitly states she is in fact a girl... and a bunch of people being all "no she can't be trans, or maybe she's only trans in the bad ending" (not even thinking about how offensive that is). And this happens literally every single time there is a trans character, no matter how blatant or obvious. It's all very tiring, and very obvious. |
