Whether or not this series does well is anyone's guess. The franchise might be a bit underrated despite being the Trope Maker of anime TV series.

So them promising a 2D animated reboot series was swept under the rug, as if nothing ever happened. Aight.

Just like Ladybug, minus the reboot part. |

I'm literally in Nigeria and how come I've never heard of this. I guess being in boarding school with limited internet access can really put you in a bubble. Just wow. I'm just astounded that Naija made it in an Anime News Network article. Naija no go carry last. As for the show, is it true that Tezuka Productions doesn't have the rights to Astro Boy? If it is, is it a result of Astro Boy potentially going into the public domain? Or was it someone buying the rights? Just curious |

I seen some clips of Go Astro Boy Go on TV and it was ok since it's mostly in english and it's like any western cartoon you seen.
Hopefully this new Astro Boy show is just as good as the Astro Boy reboot anime. |

That was my first thought tbh, I think it's either in development hell or quietly cancelled at this point, which is a shame because I think it could've been good |

Oh no, Tezuka Productions actually still has the rights to Astro Boy. The Tezuka Osamu and Tezuka Productions official websites have the Astro Boy manga and anime projects listed, indicating that Tezuka Productions still owns the franchise. The sourced article by Variety says that Method Animation and Shibuya Productions "jointly acquired the rights to the franchise from Tezuka Productions." I'm pretty sure what the author meant was that the two companies acquired the rights to produce a new Astro Boy TV show. I hope this answers your questions
Which TV channel did you watch it on? The reason why I ask is that it never aired on TV in my country, the United States. |

It turned into this show. They have the same name. Shibuya Productions is behind both. The 2D incarnation was announced in 2014. |

I was beginning to wonder if the 2D reboot would ever happen.
I hope this does the property and Tezuka justice. |

Well it was on an Astro (a satellite television provider in Malaysia) kids and cartoon channel called Taa-Daa, which was created in response to Disney ending all of their Disney channels in favor for Disney+. Funny enough, the channel also airs the new Netflix Voltron and the Madhouse-Marvel anime. |

If it's 3DCG, it has a better chance of succeeding among the Western kids
